alright so like, 2 months ago, i watched this really good short film called "Black Button".

it was released in 2007 and is about a man confronted with a scenario where he has the choice of whether or not to push a button. if he pushes it, he gets 1 million dollars, but one person, somewhere in the world, will die. if he doesn't push it, he gets nothing.

this new movie is coming out called "the box", featuring, of all people, cameron diaz and other "good" actors, which features nearly the exact same plot!

them faced with the choice of pushing a button, killing a person and getting money, or getting nothing

how the hell can this be allowed??

sparknotes: movie("the box") is coming out which nearly exactly mirrors the plot and details of a short film ("black button"). how does this fly?

 
this was for sure first a short story from like back in the day i remember reading it in like 6th grade. Except some dude came ot this ladies house gives her the choice and then her husband is killed in a car accident on his way home from work and the guy never tells her if it just happened like that or that was the person that was killed cause of the button.
 
no, i read into it more and discovered they're BOTH apparently quite close to a twilight zone episode

and its apparently a pretty common and widely known story/ tale

but still, none of the copying comes as close as how exactly the same the box is to black button

i think there must have been some sort of communication between the two for this, or else it is pretty damn close in concept.
 
anybody else notice that the music at the end of The Box trailer was the same as the Saw music? hahaha.
