i concider anyone who is free spirited and not controled by the system to be a hippy... they live life the way they choose to, don't let the man tell him how to live it. but at the same time, they don't judge anyone for their own life choices. everyone is right in their own minds, so why force your opinions onto someone else. I'm anti-religion, anti-politics, but that doesn't mean that I think less of someone if they are pro those things.

if punks didn't have so much fucking attitude they'd almost be close to hippy status... but punks are all middle class suburban kids who are pissed off at the world for no reason. (stereotypicly anyways)... so they will never be able to find inner piece.

what the fuck? i hear so many people say shit like 'fuck the hippies', and shit like that, but what exactly do you mean by hippies? a hippy isn't somebody that hangs out all day and bitches about the war. hippies are hippies cause of their lifestyle, not their beliefs. in fact, many of them are all for the war. when i think of a hippy i think of a family that tours with bands such as string cheese, phish, ekoostic hooka, and other jam bands. i'm not a hippy, but some of my friends/co-workers are and i've never met a hippy that i didn't like. hopefully now people won't use the term so loosely

p.s. frisbees and hackey sacks are the two greatest inventions ever

long hair takes way more effort than short hair. i was growing my hair long last year but i had to cut it short 'cause i couldn't handle to upkeep it... short hair is way easier to maintain and not as much hair to deal with. short hair is for lazy people. i don't know how all those chicks can deal with long hair... i'm suprized more chicks don't get dyke haircuts...

All the 'hippies' back home I know are awesome. Hippie Jen who you work with for example...cool fuckin chick. Just in general, those who could be categorized as 'hippies' are alot more real and just down home kinda folk back in PA than those here in CO.

Fuckin Boulderites suck. We've got a couple dozen of em just camping out in the middle of campus right now, getting in the way of traffic, stinking shit up, letting their dogs shit in the grass and not cleaning it up, etc etc....all in the name of PEACE! the fuckin war is over dude. ts time for these stinky trustafarian bitches to go home to their condos their parents pay $800 bones a month to rent so their kids have a nice place to drink their microbrew beer and play their drums. Hippies like we've got in boulder give hippies a bad name.

the world isn't like it was in the 60's. life and times change. hippies arn't going to be the exact same as they were back than. hippies still exists... and seam to be on the comeback (hell, i'm on the virge of hippieness)...but they have evolved, just like everything else in the world.

by the sounds of it, many of you have never seen a REAL hippy. i dunno if i said it in my previous post, but there are jam band concerts by my house twice a year, and there are definately straight up hippies that go to those. these people don't even have a home, they live in their VW microbus and live off the money they make from selling their crafts and ganja cookies. they don't waste their time protesting over the inevitable, they chill out, travel with their favorite bands to the different festivals all over the US, and just....well, i dunno, they jsut exist, that's about it. they're not harming anybody, they just wanna live their lifestyle. now maybe this lifestyle was created in the 60's and 70's by people who protested vietnam, but that's not all that classified a 'hippie'. there are only a few people that actually understand it's the LIFESTYLE that makes them who they are, not the protesting.

and yea, SwitchBitch, Jen is cool as fuck, and so is hippy Mike and old Mike.

That should be sick. Ive seen them in actual concert venues, and its a great show even if you're not really into reggae, so it should be phenomenal. Who else is playing? when is it? I might be home in PA around that time and will def. hit that up if im around.

 
madd trix, i met one of those people while camping in vermont. This guy works for the green mountain organization, and he just walks along the trail everyday collecting money from people who stay overnight in the shelters. He was telling us about how when he is in burlington, he just goes to shows all the time. and he was telling us about how he is building this house out of adobe and lots of windows so the adobe will soak up heat from the sun or something. He was a pretty free spirited person, kinda like what you were saying.
