I meannnn I’m all for low prices getting more people into skiing. But like I’m not for a 40% price increase on a locals pass for no reason.

I told myself awhile ago I’d never buy an ikon because of what they do and the negative effects of ski tourism. But this year I might throw on an ikon base on an Alta pass. And I’m torn

Folks are surprised running a resort that offers luxury activities is trying to maximize money and squeeze everyone for as much money as possible.

As if anyone dictating prices cares about traffic or pollution or who is upset. Doubling the price, they can sell half as many and still make the same, while providing a better experience for folks willing to shell out. Capitalism is the name of the game.

The same shit happened in Chamonix, they squeezed the lemon so hard that the town is basically a rich english-american hub where they bought every apartment blocks and raised the prices so hard, it becomes a ghost town in off-season and the only frenchies remaining are crooks selling cheese 60€/kg to chinese tourists. Every others went down the valley to pay decent rents.

It's an amazing vibe, honestly. EC/Midwest skiers walked so you fuckers could run out-west. Cheap draft beers at the shitty bar at the base and bar-food, people who genuinely love skiing, and no hoser hardo beaters like yourselves.

Yeah Ikon is the worst thing to ever happen to the sport. All those mountains had fair reciprocal deals through Mountain Collective it was totally unneccessary.

I am about to sign on for a seasonal in Killington. I won't pay the extra for Ikon Base you get treated like shit at other mountains and blacked the fuck out and need to cough up another 200 to go to Aspen or Taos or JH. But your hill gets invaded by those people despite paying 2,000 for a pass. Cunts.

The saddest thing is people on here defend Ikon and Alterra and say its better than Vail...lol puddles.

The trip I am dreaming of for next winter has no Ikon bullshit I want to go to Fernie and Castle and then dip back into the US to check out Turner and Big. I've done Big Sky, Red, Schweitzer, Nelson so need to hit those 4. And the Alps if it snows there this winter. Fuck super pass places out west in the US the culture is just gross and disgusting people showing up at 6am on pow days filling the lot 3 hours in traffic after etc.
