What skis?

So I am looking to get some Twin Tip skis this winter, however i don't exactly know what to look for in them. I my self have ridden skiboards for the past 5 years, and non-parabolic skis prior to that. With that i am looking to increase my ability in the park, but will still do most of my skiing all mountain.

So basically i am looking for a beginner Ski that is good for the park and the rest of the mountain.

I am 5' 8" and about 170 pounds.

Do i look for skis around my height, shorter? longer? What kind of width am i looking for?

Thanks for your time,

Dane

Now, if i look at those skis (the PEs), there are many different lengths. Does it matter what length i should look at as a beginner. Will i want shorter skis because i am converting from skiboards?

Thanks,

Dane

With the length, it is really all a matter of preference. It is recommended that, for someone your size, anything in the 170-180 range would be suitable.

In your case, shorter will be easier, but it is up to you. I personally am 5'9" 140lbs and ski on a 181 park ski. Thats just what i like.

I would check out the Armada El Rey. A good all-mountain twin that can throw down in the park too. http://armadaskis.com/product/skis/el_rey.php

If you're looking for something more park specific, the K2 fujative would be an option. If you're going to spend more time on the mountain than in the park, the K2 Public Enemy would fit the bill.

Since you're just starting out, try and get a forgiving versatile ski that will get the job done wherever you ski.

Also, with your height and weight, I would look at skis 175cm and up. I'm 5'10 150lbs and I ride skis in lengths of 177cm, 181cm and my powder skis at 189cm.

meh, i'm about 6'1" or 6'2" and i'm on 175 ARVs, and loving it. going with a longer ski seems to be the trend nowadays, but really it's all about personal preference. i can't help you with ski choice more than these guys^

Alright thanks for the help...

I am thinking going with the K2 Fugitives (07 model) size 169.

I think that would be the best move since i am used to size 99.

That and my ski shop near me has those on sale right now for $190ish

However, my next topic i suppose would be bindings. Is there a good "entry-level" binding that is good enough for park and all mountain yet still relatively cheap?

Thanks,

Dane

Dynastar Troublemakers, K2 Public Enemy, Rossignol Scratch, Armada AR6/ARV are some of the favourites.
