Little question for the skinners on here...
Situation, i have a 108mm scott P4 with marker m14s and a 127mm Line EP pro with jestersthe scott is a heavy charging ski, regular camberthe ep pro is a rockered noodle that weighs less then the P4
i'm looking to get some trekkers and skins for skinning. Is it possible to get skins trimmed to fit my P4 and also use em on my EP pro or will they slip too much ?
if not possible, what should i get? skins for the P4 or skins for the EP pro ?

Some more info; i've never ever skinned before but i'd like to use em to access terrain thats just out of reach for the weekend warriors, and do an occasional sunrise hike/tour, so looking into doing 2h tours or shorter...

Sparknotes: Scott P4 or EP pro for skinning ? or can one skin suit both ?

thanks in advance !

How long are the skis? With skins, you have to cut them to the length of the ski, although depending on what brand you can probably adjust them in/out a few inches with the tali clip (at leaston BD STS you could). You could trim the skins to be wall-to-wall on the P4's and get away with using them on the EP's as long as you aren't trying to climb anything really steep, there will still be enough coverage in the middle of the EP's to skin. Icy sidehills could be a problem with that setup, but you aren't planning anything crazy.

Make sure trekkers are compatible with both those bindings first.

Just cut your skins to the widest possible for both skis and they will work fine. I have 2 touring skis and one pair of skins.

yeah thanks for the reply, the EP's are 185cm and the p4s are 181 so length could work..
you don't think the 1cm free base Left and Right will be a big problem ?
and i've seen eric himself use tekkers with jester and the m14s have a very low heelpiece so it won't interfere ...

could i also leave skins wider than my ski and not cut them ? or is that foolish ?
widest possible would be the P4's silhouette and having +-1cm left and right of free base

first off, i hate the p4 as a touring ski, my friend has the p4's with barons and i really didn't like them

for skins i'd find a happy medium between the widths of the two, a little hanging over the edge or a little ski showing wont kill you

and you know you need AT bindings or trekkers right?

yeah, gonna go for trekkers since i'll only skin occasionally and AT bindings scare me :)
thanks, i think i'm just gonna go for a 110 mm skin for both
