What ski?

My parents just bought a place up at niseko in japan where theres heaps of powder which ill probs go to round new years most years. but i usually ski at perisher in Australia.
whats a good ski that would be good for the groomers and park in aus but still heaps good for powder in japan?

Thanks

p.s Its very hard to find a ski that will be great in pow and great on ice

p.p.s I'm way too jealous that your folks just bought property in Niseko.

How tall/heavy are you?

Agreed with the above, Seth pro skis are amazing, and it sounds like you could afford a pair. (they are also the sickest looking skis in the world.

I personally ski on Volkl Karmas, which are fantastic (but not made anymore, this years replacement are the Bridges), they take me everywhere, I just got them remounted + 3 as I am working on my park a bit more so they aren't going to be as good in the powder.

Basically though I don't think you want a one ski quiver. Go for something like K2 Hellbents as a powder ski, which will be fine on the groomers and amazing in the pow, and for those non pow days get something more like a park ski, maybe the Volkl Wall?

Length wise go for something taller than you for the pow (more float), and about 175 for park and piste.

Elizabeth, the Sperm Ski! Basically they are really designed for back country booters, they are pretty fat but with a small sidecut to allow a certain amount of carving. I see them as quite a confused ski personally.

They are really buttery, apparently quite floppy too (so I hear). Basically if you want a one ski quiver you need a mid fat ski. So something like the Seths/Bridges/Big Troubles etc.

Why not buy some pow skis and leave them at the place in Japan? Seriously it's worth it for the pow you get there. Fat powder skis are like 4x4 vehicles, great off road, not so good on road. and vice versa, you could get a ferrari on piste but it would be no good off. if you go in the middle, you are only going to make a compromise in some areas.

Hope that helps.

dude anthems are ok in powder not really that good but good enough and same for the rossi scratch bc's

^ I thought they were really soft - not good for hard Aussie conditions..Volkl Bridge wouldn't be a bad choice either

Head mojo 90's are not bad for that stuff, not great fer park but ok and good in snow and hold ok on ice. im also ur new best freind.

you could get a nice pow ski for japan like the jp v julien and a cheap park ski for australia such as invaders or something. its appearant that you are not short on funds.

i have this years seths and id say they are deffintly what you are looking for. they rip all over the mountain, from icy groomers to park to pow. they are a bit difficult in moguls but managable. the lizzy is very similar to the seth but a bit softer and 12cm wider (98 vs 110). you cant really go wrong with either ski.

but seriously, if you get a ski in the middle it will be ok in pow and ok in park, i would rather cet two cheaper skis one for pow and one for park. it would cost more but for you i bet it wouldnt be that hard to work up some extra $$

The Seth would be a much better choice, it has all terrain written all over it, it was designed for everything but to be honest you are a fool for not buying two pairs of skis. I don't know where your logic went but where were you hoping to mount these "all over the world" skis that you seem to think exist?!

Central for park?

in the back seat for powder?

Where ever you look you will be exploring a world of compromises, and who wants to compromise when skiing?!

Seriously, if you can afford a place in Japan, you really should make the most of the awesome powder there and buy yourself at least a two ski quiver.
