im a little bit shorter than dumont around 5'5" hes like 5'7" i think

and im looking into buying next years ar6 but not sure what size

im either going 171 or 176

i personally think 176 would be steezy but im just not sure if that too long

i think dumont rides 176 and i think thats what im going to get

but anyone got any goods or bads about riding a longer ski in park mostly

thanks NS!

yeah hes like 5'6"-5'7"

so im leaning towards 176 any bad things about going to a longer ski

1 reason im thinking about it is cause yeah it looks steezy

2nd reason why is i just think i huck tooo fast with smaller skis and it will slow me down a bit haha

wait are you seriously comparing your skiing ability to that of simon dumont's?

secondly, center mount or traditional mount?

thirdly, how much you weigh?

alright well simon dumont is a better skier than you and also probably shorter too. but if youre a decent skier and you center mount that shit there is no reason you wouldnt be able to handle a 176 within a day or two of riding depending on how much of a difference it is for you from what you used to ride.

same, plus my friend is like 11 and barely 5ft with his gear on and hes only a head shorter than dumont with his shit on so he cant be much taller than 5'4" but if u look at sammy he like what 5'3" i think tanner isnt much taller than him, short ppl have an advantage when it comes to acrobatic stuff

You guys make it sound like its completely ridiculous to compare body types and skiing types to another skier when deciding skis to buy. Dumont is probably a better skier, but if the thread creator has done his research, Dumont can still be a good reference. The idea that professional skiers are in an incomparably different league from anybody else is ridiculous. By that notion, we should all be wearing rear-entry boots with short recreational directional skis.

dumont rides 176inpark 181 in pipe. and he is about 5ft 3. the longer ski will giveyou better all mtn performance also

uh not really, dumont regularly hits massive jumps and goes huge in the pipe, meaning he is going to need longer skiings for stability when speeding into a massive jump and landing and whatnot, and being a pro skiier he will be able to handle longer skis much better than a kid who isn't even sure about what size ski to get. (no hate on the thread starter)

im no expert but im pretty sure pros generally rock much larger skis proportianl to thier body size than the average park skier. Meaning it wouldn't be the best idea to use them as referance as to what lenth ski to get, unless you are going to be hitting the same size features as them in whichcase you probably won't be wondering what size ski to get in the first place

and my bet is dumont is 5 3' but thats just a semi-educated guess

hahaha semi-educated are the best!

why do you need to know... just pick whatever feels right, if your riding a smaller ski right now and feel like you want a little more length to play around with then just go ahead and try it out for a season.

i guess i can see why you would be asking if your the same size and whatnot but the whole what are the pros wearing what type of milk do they drink? is it 2% or skim? aaaahhhhhh just do whatfeels right and dont worry about them, focus on your own skiing

hahahaha that got much too big, i dont know if you should take my advice actually hahaha

no i'm pretty sure it was 171 slopestyle and 176 in the pipe. i think the salomon website says it in the product video but its not working right now

he is def around 5'3 if not shorter i am 5'4 stood next to him and i was looking down on him.

I'm 5' 6'' and 125 lbs and I rode 176's last year. I had them center mounted and they were a little too long for me. They will give you great stability on huge jumps, but if you really like dancin on rails then stick with the 171. Yeah the longer ski looks steezy, but I'm switching to a 171 next year for more rail options. I guess if you really want a 176 then get a soft park ski, but if you decide to get the 171 then get a stiffer park ski, which i recommend.

I'm pretty sure simon does not ride a 176...thought it was a 181 for sure, park and pipe and bigger in big mountain. I could vey well be wrong, but I really wasn't aware of any pro that skied something smaller than a 179 in park. part of the reason for this is because many of them came from skiing moguls and the W.C. regulation was a 181 I believe.

def rides a 181, same with tanner and alot of other pro's, and the reason those short dudes are riding 181's is because they are PRO's and need a big ski, they pop way harder then the average skier and need the extra length. if you(thread maker) think you can rock a longer ski meaning actually beable to control it completely then get it if not then dont.
