What should our new name be (free action sports management agency)?

I've been running Integral Management for a couple years, and it's been really rewarding so far. I'm terrible at skiing compared to everyone I work with, so helping them out leads to cool experiences and the ability to help athletes who participate in the sports which I am most passionate about progress.

Integral has been - and will continue to be - a nonprofit, no cost management agency run entirely by students. Our only goal is to advance the careers of action sports athletes, not to make money or gain fame. While I founded Integral with a few friends from school and from the local hill, I hope that the coming years lead to growth and to our ability to provide financial assistance to up-and-coming athletes, whether they ski, snowboard, skateboard, whitewater kayak, BMX ride, or participate in any of the incredibly diverse group of action sports.

So, what should our new name be? Before school starts, we'll have designed a new website from the ground up and hope to assemble a group of individuals from multiple sports who are willing to help out by providing their expertise; if anyone is interested, let me know through DM or feel free to shoot me an email at integralmanagement@live.com. Lastly, I'd be stoked to hear from companies interested in helping out.

In a couple weeks, I'll have a many more details, including info on contests for free gear.

Thanks for your help,

Kyle

It's pretty hard to take any sort of business seriously if they're asking what to name their new company.

Haha yeah, nothing screams 'We can't make one confident business decision' more than making a thread about it.

Haha, I'm not sure that's a valid point. I'm fine with keeping our current name or choosing one ourselves, but I thought it would be cool to let the community have some input. If we don't like your names, we won't choose them. By the middle of July, the Strategic Plan will be complete. At that time, I'll be more than happy to send it to anyone who's interested in reading it; the plan will include, among other things, financial information and short and long-term goals.

Thanks

call ir Free Action Sports Management Agency

eheh

in reality, keep your current name, it's very good!

So you aren't making money and there's no cost, but you're still acting as their agent? How are you going to compensate employees with this business model? Will they be volunteers? How are you supposed to recruit new athletes without that "fame" factor of name recognition of the company? And as Evan pointed out, I don't have much (if any) faith in a company that has doesn't have the confidence to pick their own name.

I'd love to be proven wrong and to see this become a success, but the way you're portraying your "agency" is setting it up to fail.

Just my 2 cents...

What athletes do/have you sponsored?

As far as the company, name it after me (hugo) of course. Its the least you could do for stealing my name

Thanks for sharing your legitimate concerns. I hope I'm able to provide more information but please realize that most details are coming later this month. Everyone who works with Integral is a student, and we all volunteer our time and resources. This isn't a business - we're not in it to make a living, so compensation isn't a concern. Lastly, our goal isn't to recruit famous athletes; instead, we want to provide guidance and support to athletes who demonstrate potential and are trying to realize their dreams.

I hope that we're able to prove you wrong moving forward.

Thanks again,

Kyle

Nice! Not trying to bring you down or anything, just voicing my concerns with a new company in hopes of helping. Out of curiosity, what school do you go to? Is there a large pool of local talent you can focus on, or will most of your clients be remote with contact over the internet? Is this something that you want to grow into a "real" agency, that utilizes its resources to reach out to new athletes and have influence with companies and events?

Shoot me a pm if you wanna talk business plans or need some honest criticism. I know it helps me when I'm developing a plan.
