what should i do

ok so i have a good friend who gave me a pair of armada ar5s...the bases are pretty bad and could use some repair...and overall they arnt the greatest condition...so i went to the ski shop an hour a go to get some prices on repairs.and the guy is all like these bindings DIN numbers start at 6 and i think your a 5..so im jsut like uh im not a pussy and was starting to get frustrated, but i guess its his job to tell me if somethings dangerous. my point is they arnt worth fixing up and putting a good amount of money into, but i wanna ski on them, would this be a bad idea?

i love you

do the repairs on your own, and repair shop ppl ALWAYS have to set your dins low cuz in this stupid country you could sue him if it was too high

take care of teh stuff for yourself, some 5 dollar p-tex and a good scraper should fix your bases right up

I wouldn't be to worried at all. The din is used to determine what force it will take to throw you out of your bindings. This is all calculated on your weight and ability as a skier. Generally if you fall in to the 3-3+ category (on the 1-3+ scale ski shops use) you set your din a little higher because you will most likely be skiing on harder runs, more technical lines, etc. As a freerider I suggest always boosting your din up 1 over the recommended. When hitting a 40ft. table a lot of force is applied to the ski and depending on how you land it can be applied to the wrong areas, thus making the binding release. The extra din setting gives it a little extra kick so your ski stays on. Another factor your need to include is your weight with your ski gear on. Generally, that is another 10-20 pounds from what you would weigh at the doctor's officer. I believe din is measured close to increments of 20-30lbs so really pushing your binding up to 6 from 5 is no difference at all. Also, if you have any other problems getting your bindings adjusted in the future just add some poundage to your stature. That way you won't get any beef. Those Armada's sound like a good investment. Have fun skiing em.

Just buy em a six or twelve pack of beer to do the repairs, and he says your din is 5, its probably 7 or so... so adjust it yourself; pop your boot in there... crank the DIN to what you want.... BOOYA! (but make sure to have the boot clicked in when you adjust the DIN)
