What sells skis?

What do you HONESTLY look for when you're buying skis? Do you really look at the dimensions or the flex points? I'd be willing to bet most people look at the graffix and who's riding them.

I was thinking about the ski company Armada. I've never ridden any of their skis, so i can't claim to know much about them. I was wondering if their quality is any better than any other ski company. Did they get to where they are because they have pros like Tanner riding for them? Or are their skis really better than other brands?

Success often walks side by side with sacrafice.
 
they are higher quality this year, since they are being made by elan. personally i didnt like how the skiied compared to other stuff out on the market, but thats just me

 
well flex, who rides it and what i allready know about that company/ski. but if i cant decide between two skis, the breaker would be the graffix or price.

who is riding them and if there either park specific or powder. I bought pistols without ever skiing them becasue truthfully there topsheet is sick as fuck, rare as fuck (at least at northstar)and there huge. I bought fugis because i know there park specific and last me a season.

Length and Dimensions, Company usually means quality, then the graphics. I'm pretty partial to Line, Rossignol, and maybe K2, but that's only because of my personal experiences skiing on them and dealing with those companies. I've been skiing for 15 years now so I guess I should know by now.

peoples opinions on NS here. plus i usually wait a year after the ski come sout so find out its durability. price is also a huge factor

I could care less what other people think about the ski, especially a lot of the sheep here on NS, i do value the occasional informed persons input, but besides that.....

every single day is a fight to do better then before so that, someday, some great glorious day, jay can afford a hair cut. I couldnt even imagine how 4 frnt, aramada or liberty have set up their business models. The big mother fuckers out there dont like competition, and they;re tryin hard to make sure that these small companies arent a factor .... i'm rambling...

 
I think it's important that the graphics of the ski lead you to WANT to ski them, if you get lame looking ski's you're not going to be as pumped as if you have skis that excite you when you see them. Example being if you have a pair of plain shitboat, say 2year old fishers gray ugly, not much twin on them, vr. a pair of sexy looking armadas etc. then you'll be more excited to ride when you see the good looking pair vr the lame ones. Also It's important for who the team riders are because those are the people you look at and say i'll be looking like that when i bust out on the slope. Dimentions are important, Price is usualy a HUGE factor, and company reliabilty + warentee factors can make or break a ski deal.

In Europe there are the racers that sell skis, for instance; if Eberharter wins Wengen on Atomics, the whole of Austria wil want Atomic skis.

I dont buy that, skis sell themselvs, if you ski them and you like them, than buy them no mater what colour or name they go by.

 
You pick skis the same you would pick a girl, for example. They will always catch your eye before you fall in love with their style/personality. The graphics and shape will always come first when first finding a ski, then the flex and feel/construction.

first thing i do when i used to buy skis, just give it a quick visual...how wide does the waist/tip/tail look....then grab it off the wall and flex it (and flex from where the tail STARTS, or u dont get the true flex of the ski)

if i like everything, ill get it, but graphics do come into play...id get the ski with the flex pattern i DONT perfer if the ski I like is got an ugly ass topsheet

Weight also plays into effect for me, if im looking for a fat powder ski, i dont want something that feels like 200 pounds. especially if i'm using it in the park.

for me I check out what has cool graphics then I post some questions and read up on other reviews of the ski, I find thats the best way to get the ski you want.

yeah first thing first is the dimensions, length core material, read the reviews, durability, edges, graphics. I mean if K2 made the most durable park ski ever with massive edges, solid construction and so on I coudn't care less what they looked like as long as I could rock on them

why do u care about graphics so much? u can just sand the clearcoat off, paint whatever u want onto them, or have somebody else paint them,and then spray a clearcoat on and u hav a completely unique ski
