Here's something that's pissing me off.

My friend usually spends his entire days skiing in powder or in the trees, not really technical drops etc. but more of just having a good time. He was looking at a pair of Verse 10 Pilot's and was going to buy them until he saw the Line Mavericks that I was looking at in school and said he wanted a pair.

But here's the thing, he's never in the park, his best trick from many years of skiing is a backscratcher and a safety. And he can't even do a 90 degree spin off a jump yet he's getting a ski way above his riding need?

And in the store today the owner mentioned the Line Bindings to us and my friend's looking into them, I hate it when people get stuff that is that much too good for them. Sure the Verse 10 pilots are a great ski but they suit him more.

He seems to think that with his $900 he's gonna spend as much of it as he can to make a good setup so he doesn't look like such a poser on the hill. Pisses me right off.

if he has the money, spend it...support the ski industury....you never know he may begin to do tricks, look out for the next chris turpin...

there isn't really a downside to having twin tips. maybe having a park ski if he doesn't ski park, but having that turned up tail on the end will not hurt him. I'd recommend getting the twin just in case he wants to try park or start learning, but if he plans on skiing powder maybe he should look into the scratch BC, I don't know anything about the line maverick, it might not be a true park ski, but if it is a park ski tell him not to get it.

ya know what pisses me off. is people who think they should be the only one of the group to have that certain equipment. ok, so he may not be great, but he has to start somewhere. and if hes your true FRIEND, they why talking all this mad shit about him? just let him do his own thing...shit

thats cool but coz then when some one says dude twins are just a fad, you can claim that everyone is riding them....even your mum!!

 
that's his decision dude.. well from what you said, hes a pretty solid skier, so he should adapt to the park well

ive had worser cases where friends wana buy twin tips and freestyle boards even tho they can barely do a grab. but the fact is you can yell at them, make fun of there mom, ect. about buying the equipment, or u can just back off and let them learn the hard way

The Line Mavericks aren't even strictly park skis. They are All Mountain. I have Mavericks and last years Darksides. The Darksides are way more park oriented than the Mavericks. Mavericks are good ski to learn on though, so let him get them.

mavericks though, are more of an all mtn ski, then other lines. In fact, they are pbly the 2nd worst skis from line for the park, even the mothership is better. Its b/c of the tip, though its high enough for fakie, you can certainly feel the difference

 
since the post name makes it look like a question. what pisses me off is when my 'friends' that snowboard ski and skiboard talk like they r the shit of the shit. they suck at all three and they know it, yet they talk like theyre the kings/queens of teh mountain. that and girls extreme mood swings, thats what pisses me off.

 
the bindings arent just for park tricks either, theyre made for saving your knees from everything. i know a kid in my school whos recently bought twin tips, and hes raced all his life, and the only thin he can do in the park is hit the biggest jumps as fast as possible, hes a solid skier, so why not have other kids get into what were doing?

what i mean is, my dad used to be able to throw mad shit back in the day. then he got old and now he just skiis, hes an amazing skier. he started his own ski company and patented and slowly produced the ski-binding system that line was looking into when they were workin on their skis, he doesnt have twin tips... BUT! a guy my dad knows does, hes really good, hes a guy incharge of a mountain. and he does lots of big lines, no park, so? line is a good company, tell him to look into a different line thpugh, like the moshis, if he got flow, or the darks, which are more in the ballpark, if you read this who;le post. message me, you get a prize

it is kinda gorby when people do shit like that, its happend to me tons but when people see you riding in the park vere them they know whos who and whats what.

 
ya plus its fun when u ski past old people and the snow that flings off ur turned up tail hits them in the face. hahahaha i love doin that

 
my friend bought mavericks and he sucks at skiing and cant even do a turn. and the only reason why he got them is because i said i wanted them. i mean i guess it is a good thing he is supporting ski industry but it got kinda anoying cause he doesnt even know what the back tip is for.

 
maybe he wants to start learning to ski the park why don't ya just let him? everyone has to start somewhere...

 
yeah , i hate girls with mood swings. makes me want to give them a taste of the back of my hand. that and windy days where it's cold as hell...pure misery.

 
what the hell are all you guys talking about? i got 'twin tips' because of skier cross, obviously. the back tip is designed for kicking up snow into your competitor's face, thus giving you an extra edge over a racer behind you. i just got spun out one day and realized that you can go backwards on twins, too.

i wouldn't say that park riders demand good equipment, So getting a park ski isn't above his level. Thats like saying its pointless for a pipe rat to have a world cup stock DH binding that with DINs to 18. Performance.

 
What pisses me off is Today i was skiing down on this OB trail and it ended up on a groomer. So then im happily skiin along and suddenly i run into a group of those hip-swiviling old people. (you know when u see those ppl with perfect turns and they stick their ass out and ski all over the trail.) So anyways this lady in front of me is going pretty slow and i try to lose some speed when she does one of her turns and gets right in front of me, i have no where to go because i was on the side of the trail. so i whip over her tail end of her skiis and i do a 540 just sliding in circles and she falls and gets mad at ME! WTF, She shouldnt take up the whole track! They should make tighter turns or somethin. Or just go back to the kiddy runs.

----now i lay me down to sleep, blah blah blah my soul to keep, if i die before i wake ill go to hell for heavons sake.
 
The whole point of what I was posting about was that, first of all, he'd be saving money. Second of all, he'd have a ski that suited what he did all the time. And he does occasionally ski park but he even says he has no passion for it and that he really just likes moguls and trees. That's why I though it would be good for him to get the Verse 10 Pilots.

But it's too late now. He bought the Mavericks and the s912 Ti Bindings for well-over what he would've payed if he bought the V10 Pilots.

Hey it doesnt matter if you have the same pair of skis...i mean the 1080 is probably the most popular ski on the mountain and there is no way in hell you'll be the only one with you're skis....Oh yeah trees are sick!!!

 
Where I ski every kid has the 1080s or the 720s. I have seen kids that never even look at the park that have them. So I like that they're supporting Salomon because the more skis that Salomon sells means more research and better skis the next year. But i didnt wanna be like everyone else so i got the Pocket Rockets. thank god those r amazing on the east's hard pack

you know what pisses me of? people that are new to this site, have no idea what they are doing, and bump a thread from 4 years ago.
 
Buddy, chill the fuck out. skiing pow is just as great as skiing park if not better. it doesn't really matter if he wants twin tips and doesnt know how to do tricks. if he wants them, he wants them and theres not much you can do.
 
i hate to add to this thread, but i should point out that this is what is wrong with people saying "searchbar n00b!!" Sooner or later it actually happens and we get a bunch of worthless responses to a thread that's half a decade old.
