I am looking to buy skis pretty much pipe specific. (since that is what i am doing alot of). My first thoughts have been dumonts and pipe cleaners, but this years are to expensive so i would probably get last years model. I help dumonts or pipe cleaners. or any other good recommendations.+k for help

Find a shop where you can demo to buy. Probably your best bet. I know my shop does it and you can try as many pairs of skis as you like for 2 days for $90 then the $90 goes towards the purchase of the skis and you get a free binding mount.
I like the pipe cleaners. I use a pair of invaders for the pipe and keep them super sharp and its my favorite so far (but I'm a girl, so they ski different for me)
Find like 3 you want to try though and have at it. Just make sure you do it on ideal snow days and that if you decide to purchase you ask for the same tune that your demos had.

That is the most legit system I've ever heard of, I wish shops around here did that.

i had a pair of pipe cleaners. they really are nice. i don't know what details about them you are looking for? the base is super fast, they ski great, pop well. they're great pipe skis and are very functional outside the pipe as well. and as armada says they are the ski that wins the most. i'm sure plenty of skis do well in the pipe, clearly when you're good enough you can compete on whatever. but if i was buying a ski for just pipe the pipe cleaner is what i would be on.

I don't find my PCs very stiff. They have a soft tip and medium tail hand flexing. When carving I found they ski damp but not in a bad way, but you can load up the tails to pop if you want. I've only had one day on them(181s), but I like them and think I will like them more when I get used to the length(I was tending to land backseat...so I learned how to bio 5 at Hood to avoid that. I need to learn to cork and that should help. My 181 Chronics seemed shorter(mounted center, PCs measure 184 and mine are mounted -2) but I like the PCs way more). Oh, but I've had like 4 full days in park ever, and I just in the past month learned that what I was doing was bio. Should put in about 25 park days this season though =D

Seemed pretty soft to me after they broke in, but seem to like stiffer skis. Im not knocking it, but if youre looking for something stiff, thats not the ski.

They do get pretty soft after they break in but they still aren't a soft ski. Mine are starting to rocker in the tips, but i've been on them for two seasons and they're the original PCs.

They're my favorite jump ski so far, I can't say I'm good at pipe but they kill it on jumps and rails.

According to freeskier, the flex pattern was designed to generate maximum power out of halfpipe transitions to give the rider maximum speed and amplitude in the pipe.

you learned bio 5s after only 4 days of park skiing? im impressed.

and yeah i got myself some 0809 pipe cleaners and theyre dope. i havnt ridden these, but demoed them last year. they are kinda stiff, but thats good for pipe. theyre also super sick in the rest of the park and on groomers.
