when i tell someone "I ski" they say wow thats stupid why dont you snow board all you can do on skis is race on a snowboard you can do tricks and stuff

i want this sterio type to go away but i dont know how to get it out there that i freestly ski god i wish skiing wasent knowen for raceing

i know what you mean, but imagine how not cool skiing would be if it was as popular as snowboarding and there were a bunch of posers and stuff....

awareness of skiing does need to be raised, but also you shouldn't say shit about racers etc, because in ten years when, people think all skiers are gangster punks, racers prolly won't wanna be associated with us. just cuz they wanna race and don't wanna ski park isn't a reason to hate them, just to laugh a little behind their backs.

I still think skiing is moguls and gates. Theres also an UNKNOWN aspect to it, but I dont' like people to dwell there because they might die.

Hey man i feel for ya. If i'm hitting on girls i make sure to not tell them i ski. Sometimes if they look down and see my boots buckle instead of lace I'm fucked. But the snowboarders I ride with get so much ass just for saying they snowboard. I mean damn, it's not like i walk into the lodge with a damn skin-tight race suit and conehead helmet on. It's such a shame that we get a bad rep man.

We definitely need more mainstream exposure if we want to be viewed as cool. I think guys like Wilson are good for the sport because he keeps stepping it up doing crazy shit. Shame that jump didn't go well for him though. That would've got us a lot of publicity. And as much as some poeple don't like Tanner, i think he's good for the sport. His many wins at X-games kinda make him the appointed representative of our sport. And tanner is the "Antiracer" and talks shit on Bode so maybe we need to get his wigger ass on TV more often.

haha, have u seen bode, to me skiing is everything that a snowboarder can do and more. I race and freestyle, its just something i love to do on both ends and i have 2 skis to do it. Plus, to that comment that tanner talks shit on bode, lets see them fight, good god bode would beat the shit out of him, bode is huge.

Haha yeah i know bode would beat tanners ass, but I was just saying that Tanner doesn't wanna be associated with racing stiffs, which is good if you are a person who want a better public image of what freeskiing is. Our clothes are baggy instead of tight, we ride forwards and backwards on our skis, we spend more time in the air or on metal than on snow. I was just pointing out that guys like tanner are trying to break that stereotype mold the public puts us in. In most aspects Bode would own tanner ...unless of course T pulls out his gat from his XXXXL coat.

people dont know shit about skiing becasue the very few times you see skiing on mainstream tv it is racing or some old school shit of a person in a florecent one piece with poles that are way to big, same is said about the baskets and length of their blinding bright white skinny skis. Unless your a member of NS then thats what you think of skiers because thats all you see. You have to look to find freestyle skiing in the mass media, one more reason I hate mass media, though a very minor reason

the mass media caters to the mass population. Like it or not, skiing is primarily a seasonal and regional thing. You just have to get over the fact that there millions of people who probably go through their entire life who never ski, or even see snow for that matter. It's not the media thats a fault. They arent going to show something that the masses don't want. Majority wins :P

Skiing is skiing, we do it for the love of it, at least we all share the same passion, whether it's racing or freeski or boarding.. it's just different dimensions of the same aspect. Although i think freestyle is the best, cause, you know, we're hot. But honestly... who cares if not many people know about it, that way when they see you ski park they are like holy shit dude that was so intense! even if you were skiing an off day. etc.
