I personally am in favor of Obama for many of the reasons you don't like him Jay_Dope.

The point I disagree with you most on is the one about Habeas Corpus.

But I think that a lot of people should chill out here, why can't people have their own opinions. I'm not just talking about republicans or just democrats.

hes talking about a communist redistribution of wealth. aka making everyone equal, eliminating any class gap. thats not going to happen. raising taxes for the rich isnt going to change the gap. mebbe shrink it a tiny bit. (its huge right now) but not eliminate it. hes not a fucking communist.
 
when did i say he's a communist? chill out. class gaps have existed hundreds, if not thousands of years. its pointless to try to change it...people who work hard and earn money should have it in their pocket, not someone else's. that's my view.

no, its more of a redistribution of wealth along socialist lines. the fact that Obama says he's not going to tax the middle class is the greatest fallacy of this whole election. A bigger deal than Ayers or any of that other bullshit I've been seeing on the news. Obama can only make our current problem worse. Maybe some of your endagered poor will get some more benefits, but society as a whole will be worse off.

in fairness, that is glen beck, not exactly the most middle ground of commentators. and i fail to see how its really socialist as well. perhaps mildly, but its not as if hes entirely abolishing the class gap.
 
i can see where your coming from, but its not as if its even going to come remotely close to making the rich suddenly middle class, or the poor suddenly middle class, just make their lives a little easier.
 
i dont know what a fair percentage would be, more than they are currently paying though.

and i would certainly consider anyone making more than 200k (the group that obama would tax) as rich. depending on where you live i would say as low as 100k or more per year would be "rich" perhaps not filthy rich, but i would say rich.

That's the federal tax rate. You fail to factor in all the other taxes such as state taxes, city taxes, social security, and property taxes. In many places around the US its easily over 50%.

 
meaning that its just uner 50% now.... He doesnt change state taxes.... so thats not really a point...
 
I'm saying its unfair to raise federal taxes even further for people paying huge amounts in state taxes, over people in other states that have no state tax. If taxes were raised to say 60% for these people, what is the incentive to even work hard enough to earn over 200k? They'll barely be making more than those in the tax bracket below them.

 
He hasnt said he would raise them to 60%. (im assuming you mean total not just his) it would be just over 50%. None of these families are exactly being "taxed to death" right now. also were failing to take into account untaxable money like retirement accounts etc. so the incentive to make more money is certainly still there.

I DO NOT MAKE 100k per year and I lose OVER 40% in FED, STATE,COUNTY and LOCAL taxes.

No more taxes. Do some simple math.

60k/12=5k per month.

Now do a simple household FAMILY budget - House, car, utilities, insurance, food, clothing, etc

I'll start it off. 2k=~200k house mortgage

Sometimes, as a person of the world outside of the USA, I feel like saying something about the USA and more often than not it is a big FUCK YOU!!! Catch Aids and Die. Then other times I think there might be hope and then I see some old lady on the news calling Obama an Arab and it makes me laugh, then cry miserably. Then I realise by me laughing/crying at that means that I too have falling for the trap of actually thinking anythings could ever change. All of this doesn't matter of course because this post will be deleted before anyone gets to read it, you can't say nothing bad about the US, even on a skiing website, don't you know they own the world. Even mentioning the Laffer Curve makes your viewpoint irrelevant. The Laffer Curve works in very select situations, not right now. It is a vehicle to suck people of average intelligence into believing lower taxes are always the best method. Reagan bought into it and lived by it, now you do (Yes that was time where federal taxes were too high, but the economy was just served up to him on a plate after the recession of the early 1980s). I wouldn't want to be in the same intelligence level as Reagan. That community college education is really paying off well.

Hint for the future, any time you are trying to sound smart and want to prove a stance that lowered taxes are correct, don't use the Laffer Curve, it shows people you are full of shit and have no concept of what's going on.
