I was never buying all the people crying racism until lately... but the last week or so with all the "he's not like us" and "he's an illegal" and "he's a terrorist", "look at the colour of his skin" is barely beneath the surface. Fairly disgusting, and McCain is a much better man than his campaign would suggest.

I don't know why everyone is still freaking out. Obama is going to win, I give it 85-15 for Obama. McCain is just a weak candidate, I admire him as a person, but as a candidate he is weak. I agree that the recent fallback into Hillary Clinton style primary politics by the McCain campaign is an act of desperation.

When actually taxes cause more harm than they do good. They create a huge amount of deadweight loss and disincentive. Many programs put in place to help the poor actually cause more harm indirectly.

I also think its funny how democrats always invoke the name of JFK. JFK was more of a Republican than he was a Democrat, he actually lowered marginal taxes (imagine that!), and created a surge in the economy.

I dont have anything against obama as a person. but i think his ideas are a bit too extreme. Universal healthcare as one of them.

im a little undecided on universal healthcare. i mean it sounds great but youre right about whether it could actually work. i think its japan that has a really legit universal health care system that actually works out considering their government, the size of their country, etc. itd have to be tweaked quite a bit to work here.

as for the socialism thing, im gonna throw it out there that i have really liberal views except i tend to lean more economically conservative. i support basic socialist principles under the assumption that they could be instituted in an ideal situation. because this isnt the case, i support a free market. this all leads me to question how the hell the government can buy up almost a trillion dollars of assets without a huge mccarthyist outcry. that whole thing scares me a lot more than universal healthcare does.

and universal health care works, at least here in Canada, i can choose my doctor and i dont have to wait in massive lines to get into the e-room, even walk in clinics aren't very crowded, and as far as i know mri's and other things of that sort arent very crowded.
 
again. know what your talking about!!! universal healthcare isnt a redistribution of wealth like communist countries. There will still be rich, middle class, and poor. The poor just might have health insurance.

I honestly think McCain hates this business of lying, misleading and

fearmongering that's been going on for the past week. He seems really

deflated and disappointed by it all, and is grudgingly playing along

because his campaign staff tells him it's the best way to narrow the

gap in the polls. But he really needs to tell them to shut up and run

this thing right, win or lose, because you do not put "country first"

by dividing that country to win an election... and if he wins this

election out of fear and hate, that's what the result will be: a

bitterly divided US, much like the last 4-5 years.
