A little message to fearmongers and those the fearmongers have suckered
in, from John McCain himself, finally taking the high road for at least
30 seconds of his campaign:

(Rally attendee says he is afraid of bringing his kid up under an Obama presidency)
McCain: "He is a decent person and a person that you do not
have to be scared about as President of the United States. If I didn't
think I would be one heck of a better president I wouldn't be running."
...
Older Woman: "I have read about him. He's an Arab".
McCain: "No, ma'am. No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, citizen that I just
happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what
this campaign is all about."
I honestly think McCain hates this business of lying, misleading and
fearmongering that's been going on for the past week. He seems really
deflated and disappointed by it all, and is grudgingly playing along
because his campaign staff tells him it's the best way to narrow the
gap in the polls. But he really needs to tell them to shut up and run
this thing right, win or lose, because you do not put "country first"
by dividing that country to win an election... and if he wins this
election out of fear and hate, that's what the result will be: a
bitterly divided US, much like the last 4-5 years.
