i need to watch a movie for u.s. history and do a report on it.

give me some good ideas for movies.

They need to be a true story and involve american history and they need to have real characters

like the main characters in the movie need to be real people in history they cant be made up for the movie

yeah theres a ton

right now im thinking black hawk down or saving private ryan but i kinda want a movie that i havent seen before thats good

Milk would be an easy one. Or does it have to be America as a whole?

If you're looking for a war movie, maybe Flags of Our Fathers. I'm pretty sure that was fairly accurate.

saving private ryan characters aren't real...

black hawk down are real, although John Grimes is actually John Stebbins (stebbins was convicted of sexual assault so his name was requested by the pentagon to be changed)

mississippi burning

seriously one of the most interesting movies ive watched in a history class ever

i even remembered the name. wierd.

not sure when the movie came out, i have it on DVD its about the civil war... SUPER long movie, but i think its pretty good.

like a true story? or like a movie about things that are true?

i like american history x. the whole neo nazi groups in america. i just like the movie a lot actually, edward norton is a great actor and its an amazing movie

the characters in saving private ryan are based on real people that were in the pacific theater

Its ok if the characters are fake as long as they are based on real people and what actually happened. It cant be a made up plot with a few true things happening in it

actually from what i've read, there were 4 brothers, 3 in europe, 1 in the pacific. 2 were killed on d-day, and 1 was MIA in burma (turns out he was alive) and the true story isn't as dramatic as the film obviously. An army chaplain simply found the surviving brother like 1 day later, and got him sent home.

miracle. sooo much historical importance, actually. right at the height of the cold war, after fuel crises, huge amounts of tension between the US and the USSR. settled on the ice. true story, interesting background, and i dont think many kids will think of it, so it will be rather original. and mullets rule.

actually, there were eight brothers, and they all died. steven spielberg saw their gravestones and came up with the idea for saving private ryan.

this. most teachers love outside the box thinking, and going real deep into the meaning of the movie and everything. plus its a sweet movie

if you havent watched the band of brothers series from hbo, that would be a really good place to start

even one episode would be enough to write about, each is an hour long

^This. Do it. You won't be sorry. What about K19? That was based on true events right? Slightly out of the box too.

a night at the museum 2 at the smithsonian

i haven't seen it personally, but the previews look like there are tons of historical figures in it.

oh shit, really? All i could find was the story of the 4.

actually i just found the story of the 8, it looks like its based on both because the 8 brothers died in the civil war whereas the 4 were in world war II during the battle of normandy

So it looks like they found 2 different stories from different wars, and combined them a bit

do an old one like, hamburger hill.

or fuck all of those do ones about the idians geting fucked over

alrite thanks for all the suggestions but my group just screwed me and turned down a lot of them cuz there a bunch of faggots

now were doin letters from iwo jima, anyone know if its any good?

thats the Japanese perspective of the story for the most part, do flags of our fathers same story but americans
