What made you start?

this thread is for anyones story about what made them want to start droping cliffs or trying shit in the park. Hopefully everybody has a good story, so if your bored share a story about what made you want to start skiing.....

Heres mine, i had been skiing for about a year, only going up like twice a year with my fam. I was staying up at my friends condo on my local mtn. We were bored and his brother had all these videos so we put one in. What happened next made my head start spinning and has never stopped. The video was titled "The Resistance" a snowboarding movie (if you havent seen it you really should), yes kids no ski movie wanted to make me start throwing down it was a snowboarding movie. The movie inspired me by watching cats like JP Walker and Perter Line were charging tables and throwing 3s and 5s off of them and landing with style, while blaring hip hop music was blasting such as Red Man and Method man or even the Spooks. I look back and if i hadnt had seen that movie i still would probably not known waht twin tips were or who the likes of Eric Pollard or Seth Morrison were. Ever since then ive tried hucking myself and do what they do but only on skis.

my snowboarding friends used to drag me through the park and i never did anything. then, gradually started doing more and more. I dont remmeber, but i was proly one of the guys jumping off the rail jumnps cause i was too much of a pussy to hit the real jumps...then i threw away my snowblades and everything changed, but that is a different story.

as for cliffs: i guess i just sorta started jumping off tiny drops like 2-3 feet, then i watched a ski movie with seth morrison, and i was hooked.

I was into skiing powder and dropping cliffs cause it was fun(in Quebec). Then I saw in powder magasine a thing about newschoolers.com subscribed to it and started doing freestyle after.

i saw that same move from mack dawg and i started around that same time...i actually saw "technical difficulties" and "amp" first but that was all around the same time..

I had been skiing for about 7 years when the first 1080s came out. But I'd been doing that stuff with my friends for years. Back in 97, we took some K2 Mambas and used heat torches to mangle the tails upwards so we could lang backwards.

I had never watched a skiing movie or snowboarding movie, but I knew that hitting jumps was fun. So we spent all the 1990s building jumps at our local mountain and hitting them doing 360 daffys and triple twisters and 360 mute grabs and 540s and 720s and 360 cossaks(my favorite) all before the ski patrol to tear the jumps down.

Then the 1080s came out and I bought a pair pronto and retired the mangled K2 Mambas.

I started sliding logs and doing 180's and other good stuff like that probably 6 years ago, then I saw a ski movie and realized that there were already people that were really good at it, it was kind of weird. As for the cliffs, my mountain has an abundance of those so that's always been a part of my skiing. I really don't know what I'd be doing right now if skiing hadn't come back from the dead in '98.

i have been skiing for a long time like since i was 3 years old. everyone is familiar with the little wood trails that kids take on the side of runs i hope. well i would always hit them and they are always super bumpy so i started to gap them to make me go faster and everything progressed form there.

i was about 7...and right off the main lift there were tables, so naturally, i hit them....and my dad tought me stuff like spreads and daffys and stuff. it was fun

i remember i used to be one of those guys that would go off the side of the rail jumps and maybe go off a big jump and try a spread eagle, that was until 2 years ago actually, i saw yearbook and then i was like "thats sick stuff" and i decided to go skiing and try all of the new shit

umm this isnt a good story but i snowboarded and my older bro skied and he got me to try skiing and i loved it and started skiing park my first day cuz thats the only fun thing in ohio

always loved skiing and was thinking about trying snowboarding cause my local hill was getting boring but then my mum intervened (sp?) and sent me to windells where they set me on the right track and showed me the future

Go to the line website and there is a big skiiers union thing where you can post this business for the world to see.

My story...

The badass snowboarder turned cuddly skiier and then learns to shred like a demon. You know, the usual.

I started a few weeks ago been 4 times tonight...I started because i watch you guys in the park and watch the pros in videos and ppl on skis flow so much smoother and you cant just ride on 5050 rails like lil kids do you actutaly have to rip it...

i never even knew thre was such thing as freeskiing wen i first did a railwhich was about 2 seasons ago, so i was doing rails with racing skis and then i found out about twintips

i used to race hardcore.. but when i was aroundd 10 one of my coaches just coached to fund his trips to hood and whistler. he was on some REALLY old lines. haha i remember him trying to teach the 9-11 year old race team 360's over the 30 foot step down. got hooked. bought my first twins 4 years ago slowly progressing becasue im a pussy. but slowly getting better.

movies do help to push you though and they pump you up alot

when some asshole stole my snowblades, so I bought a pair of K2 enemy's... thinking back on that day, who the f*ck steals snowblades? honestly
