I think ive decided to pick up a pair of last seasons el reys, but im not sure what length I should go with. website lists 157, 164, 171, 178, 185. i've always skied 170's, but its been mostly all mountain skiing and never on a twin tip.

6ft

180lbs

intermediate, almost expert but not completely.

50/50 park/all mountain.

will hit a few pipes throughout the day, but i generally avoid them.

I know im not gonna go center mounted since i do enjoy the whole mountain, but im unsure as to where exactly i should put them.

thanks.

forget the previous question, I guess i need to decide between the 178s and 185s. considering ill most likely mount at the recommend position, which would you suggest?

Im thinking about going with Look Px12's unless someone else can make a recommendation.

Thanks.

Those bindings aren't bad and as far as sizing goes Im around 5'11 and ride 171s and for next year 176s... so I think 178 would be fine if you were doing just park. I only ski park seeing as my "big mountain" is less than a hill.

This is what I would do: Since you're not "expert" in your opinion, go for the 178. I've found that shorter skis are a bit easier to maneuver, and even though I'm 5'11 and have a pair of 185s, I consider myself pretty damn advanced (claim!). I wouldn't mount them at recommended, because you might regret it later, for whatever reason. I'm not sure where recommended is, but I mounted my all-mtn/big mtn twins at -3 or -4 from center. They ride GREAT, even in pow. Thats just my two cents. Good luck and have fun man

Id say 178 and somewhere around -1 or -2. Im about the same size as you and I generally ski 50 50ish on 181 ar6s. 185 might be pushing it a bit in length.

ok thanks, 178's it is then.

If anyone knows exactly where recommend mount is, that would be great, but if not, as an average how far off center is the typical recommend mount of any twin tip?

Anyone want to recommend a pair of bindings for me? ive heard look's px12s work well but im open to any suggestions.
