Are you the type where you hear a song you like, just download that one song from that artist etc.Or are you the type that downloads full albums and you actually listen to various songs from that artist?

Fuck only downloading albums of freshly discovered artists. I got the whole fucking discography. Atleast I did till I got busted. Still got away with 60 or 70 gigs of music

lmao you got busted downloading music?

If I hear a song I like i'll check out the artist and usually download the album. If I like that I get all the albums... seems pretty logical

Hahaha how the fuck did you get busted downloading music?

I download it all, listen to it all, sometimes enjoy none.

I dont even fucking know. My buddy across the street has torrented terabytes on terabytes of music for years and hasn't gotten shit, then theres me.

you're going to have to explain more man.

Who did you get in trouble with??

Cyber police just came knocking?

Basically this. I got an email from Comcast saying if they catch me torrenting copyrighted material again they will press charges.

If you break into some dudes house in some schizophrenic hallucination, and the owner decides not to have you charged, you still got caught even though you didn't recieve any punishment. Probably not the best analogy but whatever

I just torrent on public wifi and I download albums. I try to at least buy a album in hard form if I really like the artist.

1. Download/Buy Mixtape/Album by an artist

2. Pay attention to the features on the mixtape/album

3. Listen to mixtapes/albums from the featured artists that you figure are worth your time.

4. Repeat steps 1-3.

discographys all the way

pro tip set itunes to downgrade your songs to 120 when syncing, you will be able to fit way more and wont be able to tell the difference

There's a definite difference. You probably have shit headphones.

Anyways OP:

-I hear a song (usually Pandora or Songza)

-Go on Spotify

-Listen to about 20 seconds of each song by the artist, ever, by album (especially most popular songs)

-Download ones that sound good

Usually I later hear one on pandora that I missed from that artist, and I go get it.

But I HAVE to know what music I have. How do all of you just download albums, not knowing how each song is? Isn't it hard to make specialized playlists?

Discographys if I'm trying to get into an artist

Albums/mixtapes,EP's/LP's if it's cohesive and I know I'll like all the songs on it

Singles when I just can't get a song out of my head

Although lately I've moved exclusively to streaming. Between grooveshark, spotify, pandora, and google music it think it's the way of the future.

I buy CD's because I like having better sound quality on my iPod than a random YouTube mp3. Also, I can play them in my car too, without having to hook up an aux cable to my iPod. And once in a while I might buy an iTunes mp3, but only if there's one or two really good songs on a trash album. I don't illegally download, not so much for the morality aspect (although it is important to me that the artists get SOME profit from their creations), but for the better audio quality.

i download only the song, since most albums these days only have like 2 good songs and the rest are shit

What it is? A discography is just all of an artist's albums.

And spotify all the way. I always get the whole album and put it in one of my playlists, maybe one or two more of their other popular ones. If I really like them after a while, I'll get the whole discography. I hardly ever need music on my phone anyway at school. When I do download music though I get whole albums though.

I start with albums, and if I decide I really like the artist after a couple albums I go for the discography. Mostly when I'm listening to music I like to listen to albums from beginning to end or live shows, so individual songs don't usually make it into my library.

Ever since I got my VPN I usually download discographys of artists i know I like. Other than that singles for EDM stuff and albums for other stuff. I was never an album person but then I realized its nice to listen to an album all the way through. Its like a piece of art.

ya i dont feel the need to waste 300 dollars on some headphones, so i have tiny (so tiny i couldnt tell the difference) worse sound quality, an extra 300 dollars in my pocket and twice as many songs on my ipod. seems like a pretty good deal to me

Even with shitty headphones, listen to the songs of both quality. There's definitely still a difference, but I'm just really OCD about that shit I guess. I have friends whos whole library is basically Video2MP3 shit from youtube. Sounds terrible i dont know how they deal with it,

there really isnt a difference at all, because i had nothing better to do i downgraded a song from 320 to 120 and couldnt hear a difference, so then i downgraded it all the way 60 still no difference i could hear
