not really sure if the title makes sense or not, but anyway...
had an interview 2 weeks ago and was asked this question. my answer -
in high school i worked at a grocery store in the produce department. I closed the department by myself usually, wasn't a bad gig. One night i'm stocking apples, which is really close to the checkout lanes. All of a sudden, I hear over the intercom "Mr. Larry, you're needed at the courtesy counter." My managers name is Larry, and whenever they say "Mr. Larry", thats code for someone is shoplifting. So i hear that, look to my right and see all of the workers start walking towards the check out line. I look at the checkout and there is this sketchy looking dude, who apparently was trying to pass fake money. The guy looks up, sees me looking at him and then turns and sees more workers walking at him. I'm probly ten feet away from the guy. All of a sudden he realizes that he's fucked and starts booking it towards the door. I'm holding a massive fucking granny smith in my hand, and my first instinct is to chuck it at this guys head (don't ask me why). So this guy is sprinting away from me, and I wind up and chuck this apple at him as hard as I can. I used to play some baseball and I pitched, but by all means i did not expect to hit him.
BUT I DID! I nailed this fucker right at the base of the skull from like 30 feet with this massive apple. He drops to the floor, isn't unconcious but is definitely out of it. The apple exploded and I'm just standing there like, holy shit that shouldn't have worked. Anyway, the cops had already been called and were there like 2 minutes later. All the workers thought i was the biggest badass, and the other customers in line were like shaking my hand and stuff. I ended up getting a scholarship from the company, and i was listed in the police beat as "a quick thinking produce worker with a rocket for an arm."
