Right now my favorite trick tape is the chronic 2007 with killer skiing by badass shreaders matt walker and adam delorme

Delormes butters and switch ups are smoooooooooooooth as fuck and the rest of the videos are pretty dope too.
 
Delorme with the bs 360 sw up to 270 out on a rail, not a box, a rail, cause delorme doesnt hit rails......hes to good for boxes

The beginning reason for charging 10 dollars a year for dope videos is to help more groups of young guys get recognized. 10 dollars may seem like a lot now, but the site is young. Im guessing you pay around 25 dollars for a big ski company's film right? Well the site is just beginning and all the edits together come in at about the same time. Yes, they are not all closed photo shoots and not all shot in 16mm. But for a whole year why not?

The more we get good guys to upload tapes and be a part of the site the sooner that people making tapes can get PAID for it. So if the 10 dollars is hurting you, then please do not sign up. It is just to start generating a base so that hopefully in the next year or so certain groups can make tapes and get paid for it.

Yes, newschoolers.com is an extravagant site and full of features and they do not charge. However, they also have A LOT of members. The design of tricktapes.com isn't supposed to be newschoolers. We love newschoolers and don't plan on taking any type of feature that they have. Consider Tricktapes an online video mag/ skiing mixtapes.

Vital Films plans on filming almost exclusively with Tricktapes next year to continually put out quality media and tapes all winter. When there are other certain groups doing it the possibilities to get paid for your tapes become apparent.

+ Editors who submit videos (meaning they did work for the site) and their tapes get put on the site get free membership. Seems really harsh huh...
 
It's not like these are a bunch of low quality 1 min edits that you would be finding on Newschoolers, granted there are also some great edits to be found on this site. Basically the groups who are putting videos on tricktapes.com were handchosen because they have a reputation for putting out good videos that people will want to see. Also $10 dollars isn't much at all for a year of watching countless videos. But basically if you don't want to pay for it then don't, that doesn't give you any reason to bash it.

u have to understand that if tricktapes.com didnt charge it would be a shit show if a bunch of little kids who post shitty vids post there shit, why not pay $10, enjoy all the vids, and not bitch. look how many people DONATE to ns, its not like its there money, get ur parents to through you $10 , 2cents a day . . . . i got an idea !!!! GET A JOB!!!!
 
and i havent seen ONE low quality vid, all the videos on that site are sooo fuckin pimpin, and yes brightcove is hosting it, brightcove is one the the best internet video servers right now too, soo complain all u want, the site is SOO SICK
 
Hey.... thanks for the rant.... but if you don't approve, then don't do it. It's a simple as that. It is like having a plethora of ski movies for only 10$ though.
 
Yea, possibbly. Vital films is puttin out a new tricktape later today with Hornbeck, Delorme, Lafferty, and myself. It is a nice one!
 
you guys can rat this kid out.. but he has a point. i will pay cause i support the idea... but its also true that its kinda turning freeskiing into a marketplace. not that there is anything wrong with that... but this is a legit point.
 
I liked them all, but i wish the videos were a little bigger, or maybe I'm just a retard and can't find the full screen button
 
the edits will be available for full download as well in the future. i talked to wickes, and there gonna make the files downloadable as well as brightcove so you can watch em offline or put em on yur ipod.
 
dude 10 dollars is really nothing , theres no reason for a rant, basically as i see it ur a donator to newschoolers, which is cool, but why not jus see it as a donation rather then making you pay, everyones videos are quality, but you dont have to join . . .

and why is it ok for big companies that have money to charge you up the ass for ONE copy of their movie, but it's stupid to pay 10 bucks to watch ridiculous amounts of edits from these poorer companies for a whole year.

yeah stop complaning about 10 dollars, shit i pay 10 dollars for lunch sometimes, just dont eat lunch one day, ask your parents, even steal from your parents cause they wont care, 10 dollars is nothing.

and all the vids are sick, and the way the have the site set up pretty much guarantees no video will be bad.

 
Obviously there are a few contrasting sides to this arguement:

1) The kids who are benefiting from this. Regardless if they make a dime of this there sponsors and egos will be happy at the end of the day

2) The kids who resist paying based on standards. I find myself included, yeah I have 10 dollars but believe me your greedy hands aren't getting it, nor is PBP or L1P. I'm glad y'all are incredibly good at skiing, and I mean it. The tapes are amazing I'm sure, as is the skiing. But I'm not going to pay to promote you.

3) Kids who can and are willing to pay, cool why not it does indeed seem like a good use of 10 dollars.

In the end, from what I've seen is the standard bullshit that makes NS useless is applying to this. And what I mean is, I've read nearly every post in this thread and all I've seen are the same group of kids backing each other up. Cool, I'm glad ATA and 4bi9 all have each others back on here. I'd hope my friends will have mine

Damn this is a long post...all I was trying to say was this is just another scheme to gain exposure for kids who have made it in the industry through online exposure.

Flame away on me...cause I don't care nor do I think I've said much to insult you. And if you are defensive and are going to come back at me, maybe its cause I made a valid point and struck a nerve.
 
ur point is valid, but what is newschoolers for? exposure about skiing? tricktapes.com is basically the same thing, but u have to contribute a lil, so either way u look it at it is a good idea weither you willing to pay or not
