What is your favorite ski movie and why?

Mine is Idea because it has the sickest cinematography or yeah dude because its got so much sick stuff packed into it

Wanderland. I'm sure Head for the Hills will steal it's place though.

Wanderland just has the fun vibe that most ski movies lack. Plus, as an east coaster, the meatheads movies are much more realistic to me as they are skiing at places I have access to.

Idea. the reason, b/c of the unique way it was shot, the kind of slow laid back theme and the talent that the skiers + filmers have it's incredible.

i would have to say enjoy for cinematography and how it showcases the talent of some skiers i hadn't heard of before

Focused because it was such a good year for skiing at this time. I'm not gonna say 1242 because I only had Focused at this time and I got so stoked. And when I watch it now, it stills feel like the tricks are up to date.

the best ski movie would have to be Sessions 1242. It was sick to have all the top Oakley riders in one video throwing down, whether it was urban bc or park. The soundtrack was rediculous as well. The best segments were probably T Hall, Jon, JF Cussons all unnatural seg and the best was probably Pep Fujas who pretty much introduced everyone to switch landings off a huge ass cliff in the movie. I believe Pep is the reason fro people getting into 180s in the BC. If you havnt seen Sessions 1242 check it out.

Idea has the best cinematography and themes (musically and skiing wise)

And meathead is favorite setup wise because of the location, as above poster said being an eastcoaster makes it more real.

Believe has some of the best japan I've seen tho

long story short

it just took what I thought could be done on skis to the next level. and i love the music and editing.

Long Story Short cause it was just well-rounded and flawless in my opinion. And Wanderland was just such a realistic and epic east coast film with the perfect blend of park and pow.

Believe is a sick movie to watch when you are puttin your gear on and its a pow day. But I think Realtime was the best ski movie I've ever seen.

i like ski porn because of the riders and the soundtrack. as far as the quality, it wasnt the greatest...

but i like enjoy a lot too.

and im sure an 08 movie is gonna take their spot

same here. every time i watched it i got so pumped, and it made me want to ski. the music is awesome. there is just so much hype in it

another good one is Show&Prove

best recent film

ssd, highest quality film with the best skiers out there and plus, it had a pretty badass wingsuit segment.

best older film

session 1242

a close 3rd

yearbook, idk, it was a pretty revolutionary as far as fat skis and progression in the back country, and it just kicked ass

shanghai six pretty much soley because corey vanular has a full segment

if not that then focused because it was the first non warren miller ski movie i saw and it rockd my world

War and tbc.

But I gotta respect yearbook. Watching that movie brought my attention from racing to free skiing.

wanderland...because it gets me so pumped up to ski knowing i can hit the spots they hit and it gives the east some respect.

i also didnt mind courdroy

i thought it was a pretty solid effort

to be honest tho

i dont care for really any matchstick movies other than push

got to agree with you on that one. MSP films are unreal in so many ways but from what i've seen, PUSH is the only one which stands out.

really enjoyed yeah dude this year but favourite lies with wha'ppen simply for some brilliant reggae tunes and of course candide.

does anyone in the industry know anything about the candide invitational story? I know they had the premiere back in la clusaz in march some time but heard no more?

Quite a few of you mentioned Wanderland. And I got to agree, it's up there but what really pisses me off are the fucking monochrome shots. It was bearable the first time I watched the film but after that it just aggrevates me... Hopefully head for the hills doesn't have it.

Push - stellar skiing - especially abma, bushy and pollard. Great bonus features eg whitsler jump session. good mix of epic / inspiring shots + music and more light hearted stuff.

I'm totally with Steve, I seriously think Head for the Hills is going to be Meatheads FTW all over again at IF3 this year. At least in my book.
