What are these photos called and how do you make them. not necessarily a god example, but photos when people make like lines of light and spell there name or make a smiley face. first time putting a picture in hopefully it works

light painting. You open up the exposure for a few seconds in a dark place while you "paint" in the frame with a flashlight, glowsticks, fire, etc...

Yep, Just put your camera on a tripod, Set the shutter speed for a couple seconds, have somebody "paint" in front of the camera, and there you go a light painting.

look for a bulb setting on your camera, it will let you keep the shutter open as long as you want. Also a shutter remote is nice to have to make sure you don't get any shake blur pushing the button on the camera.

there are so many cool things you can do with these settings with lights, stars, water, cars, whatever. here's some examples, definitely post some of your pics after you figure out how to do this!
