What is the name of this type of jump?

keystone had one last year i think if its the same thing. its a jump onta a huge 'block' of snow that has a lip wich drops down to a landing

Exactly .And in MX/SX it's usually a step-on/step-off.
Depends on exactly how the feature is set up. If there is a big elevation difference between the lip of the first jump, and what you're landing off, then that's the step-up part. then if what you're jumping off has a landing much lower, then it's a step down. So step-up to step-down, or if it's all relatively the same height, step-on/step off.

yah we'v always called them boxes, a cheese wedge would be a large launch ramp.

I'm sure it's actually called the motorcross thing...
I've heard skiers/snowboarders refer to the block of snow as a "butter box" or "butter thinger" or something like that... as the idea would be to do butters... but the quick kick at the end facilitates tricks.
I'd be stoked to see one of those things that was just flat all the way across so you could step up to nose butter to nose butter 360 shifty off... that would be dope.

that's the cover on booter crunk. i think it's known as a step-down or possibly a bomb drop.
