What is the difference between the Look pivot 18 and pivot 14?

Im looking to put either pivot 18s or pivot 14s on a new pair of Kartel 96s and cant really decide what to buy. I don't need the crazy high din range of the 18s. I ski 50-50, park and all mountain but will definitely be beating them up in the park anyway so is it really worth is to spend the extra 70$. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to buying either.

It depends on your weight and how advanced/aggressive of a skier you are. If you're not sure if you need the 14's or the 18's you're probably fine with the 14's.

I’m only 165lbs and about average in the park but I ski pretty aggressive when I rip around.

If your proper DIN setting is about a 7, you use a 14.

If it is a 9 or so you use the 18.

Any less than 7, you would use a 12.

So, you don't need an 18. Forget about that 18.

14s for your skiing. 18s will be made with more metal so if you're actively thinking about wanting them to be bombproof and last forever then you could consider 18s but you really don't need them. pivots are just generally durable and long lasting

I currently use an 8 on average but I jack it up to 8.5 maybe 9 for all mountain bumps trees etc.

Yea, okay. The deal is bindings work the best about half way up the DIN settings.

A 12 total would still work for sure, but optimal for the 8 would be a 16.

That said a 14 will do just fine as well.

I say save your money. Then slightly reduce you DIN setting!

Buddy the friggin 18s are the equivalent to boltin ya boot down to the stick, the din range is like 9-18 where the 14s are like 7-14 don’t take ma word on dat but just point em downhill and rip
