what is the best college for skiing?

Im thinking of going to the university of Colorado or CSU i want to find a college with powder near by but im also looking for a pretty good school i guess your suppost to learn too

CSU BABY!!!!!!!! of course I'm biased. GO RAMS. so......either is cool and great for the skiing and pow pow. You should base it on how you like to party: Boulder=mello but cool, FT. C.= hard core but fast and fun. I guess your major in school could help narrow it also but who fuckin cares when you got beer and powder nearby.

UBC represent... if you dont mind canadians... whistler, grouse, cypress (if you buy a pass its good at crystal in WA too i believe), seymore all the good BC shiznit.

i wanna go there but my parents dont have the money

Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, followed in close second by UBC. It's like the UBC chick said, Whistler, Seymour, Grouse, Cypress, the rest of BC skiing, and Washington state skiing. Oh and if you're into drugs, then you've found what you're looking for. Whistler season passes are $359 canadian for us, you can't beat that deal.

You all are wrong. It is Northern Michigan University where you can get a four year degree in ski area management. Its in the upper penninsula of michigan where they can get 300 plus inches of snow. You spend semesters three and four on an paid internship out west. I groomed on mine. It kicks ass

Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA)isn't too bad either. Snoqualmie Pass is just under an hour away....but you'll only want to go to Alpental..good terrain for pow skiing. For park and shit you head up to Stevens Pass. It's about an hour and a half from E-Burg. Same for Mission Ridge and White Pass.

A college pass that's good for Stevens, Mission, and Schweitzer in Idaho is $269. There's always people cruising up to Snoqualmie and Stevens from E-Burg so catching rides isn't too hard. And chances are you'll meet folks who have a place to crash near the mountain. You could go to UW in Seattle but then Stevens is farther away and you'd have to live on the rainy westside of the mountains.

FOCUS your mind.

Wasted State Baby, I garantee I get more days in than any of you other bastards. I'm double majoring with business and recreation, with an emphasis in ski resort management. Eldora sucks and everyone that goes to CU knows it. Western State Of Colorado is by far the best ski school there is. It has been named that in magazine after magazine.

Have you ever been hit by a Uhaul?

u are all wrong, its all about selkirk college in Nelson BC. ski area management. plus u get to fuckin ski whitewater and red, probably thre two best mountains in the world. sorry, no park rats allowed.

MSU (montana) is pretty bad ass if you want to get a REAL degree.

Colorado Mtn College if your just a dumb jerk off.

actually, Mammoth University.. its s college built on Mammoth Mountain, and you get free passes to the mountain, a good education, and its dirt cheap... easily the best choice

ne1 heard oc cosacowa (sp?) college, it's supposed to be around mammoth. CU sucks!

Have you ever been hit by a Uhaul?

As one of the older guys on the board, I had a lot of friends pick schools for skiing or snowboarding. It always turned badly, most lasted a year or less at the school. Its rather short sighted to pick a college bases solely on skiing. Plus dont allow freshman to have cars anyways, a lot dont even allow sophomores. Pick a colyou wont have as much time to ski in college as you did before with more work and more to do...unless you just blow off classes all together. Most colleges lege and dont worry about skiing...most schools have really long breaks (some have months off at a time unlike high school). You can always take a year off after graduating to go skiing for the whole year.

yeah, go to selkirk in BC. my frinds brother went there, and now hes the A'basin ski shop manager. right now hes in idaho mtn biking, and since hes on a slaary, he gets paid the same all year.

i have some friends that are joinging the air force in colorado, and going to CU. the air force pays for there colege, its a sweet deal

uc davis, good school, if you dont mind all the fields, and not too far from tahoe

It depends if you are looking for a decent education too...CU is a pretty good school to hit up for an education and some damn good skiing if your down for a little drive. Definitely base it on more than just your desire to ride. I'm at CU now but I came for the engineering program because it was touted as being one of the better in the country ( top 25 or so) so thats how I made decision. number 1 party school in the nation and breck and others 1.5 or less away doesn't hurt either. good luck

this is a-basin's trail map, it looks really good for Big Mt. skiing, like upper left corner and far right.

better school than everything else mentioned here except dartmouth. pretty pricey though for out of staters

damn, mt. lincon looks sweet!!^

and At winter the park the Vasquez Cirque looks and sounds sweet. pic. UP^

Here's some info on Vasques Cirque:

Vasquez Cirque

The Cirque markes the largest terrain opening in the history of Winter Park Resort and is sure to be an instant hit with the extreme crowd. 435 acres of prime, off-piste terrain that features a mix of cornices, rock outcroppings, steeps and glades. Note: this is for the extreme backcountry adventurer-conditions are vastly different from other parts of the mountain. Ski, board or telemark within your ability.

Yea SV, sugar bowl is so nice man, but its still a good 2.5 hours away from davis. davis is still a really mice school and you can take your pic of south or north lake tahoe and there close to the same distance

I will be going to Montana State. There are lots in upper michigan but I have to get out of michigan.

i'm going to montana state next year as well and it's gonna be sick. i was worried about going to a good school too but i realized it doesn't really matter it is what you make of your education. i wanted to be somewhere i didn't have to drive more than an hour to ski. UC boulder is a lot of driving. if i had to go back and choose again i'd go with university of utah or Montana State. Both sick backcountry and pow...park city has a really good park and big sky is trying to get up there in the ranks of a good park...ps i come from VT

I'm sitting gettin my brain examed like i'm a deranged man with the strangest plan......

A-basin is incredibly small, you'll have skied everything (even the backcountry and hike-to stuff) in about 4 trips or so, but it is definitely tough and fun. Winter Park is good hard skiing, and their park is getting better. Breckenridge is all park, the rest of the mountain sucks (at least by Colorado standards). Keystone sucks, they have no park and the tough terrain isn't as good as anywhere else. Vail is paradise, the best resort in the entire world for park, all mountain, powder, steeps, cliffs, grooms, and bowls. Eldora is hell on earth, crappy weather, crappy skiing, and crappy snow, the only good thing is it's close to CU.

Picture perfect grades and a private school education doesn't get you into ivy league schools. Believe me. I went to a very good prep school and a lotta my friends who thought they would go ivy didn't.
