You could probably get a Canon GL2 for around $1500 on ebay. I bought a brand new (in box) GL2 about 5 years or so ago for around $1800. The GL2 is a great 3ccd camera with all sorts of custom options with the picture. These days you can even get a very low end consumer HD camera new for $1500.
