What is skiing to you?

What is skiing to you? I'm interested what get's your stoke on, how do you like to ski, where do you ski, and how is skiing just that thing you do because you live on a mountain, or is it something you drive 45+ minutes to a mountain just to ski for a while. Just tell us what skiing is to you, and please don't hate.

i live in QC canada. its around 20-40 mins drive to one of the 4 small ski hills around here. its ice all the time so we stick to the park. learning new tricks is what gets me pumped. pluss its just fun skiing with friends.

thinking of shredding on the drive up to the mountain gets me so stoked. and just cant wait to hit the park or fly down a couple groomers and try to progress. my closest mountain is an hour and a half drive anyway. but kiiiiiindof a repost

Lets see. Skiing is probably the best. I live one of the biggest snowfall areas of the east. I love powder days, but I must say every ski day is the best day. It's:slush, packed pow, hard pack, ice, 4 in. or a actual pow day. I don't care what the conditions are I just ski. It's all good.

Skiing is the ability to have fun with all your friends shredding park/pow, and learning new things, throwing down in comps, and getting pumped on yourself and pumped seeing your friends get way better

I live out here in California and love skiing park, but park does not even come close to those days where you've received a bunch of snow. Just waking up at five and cruising up to the mountain early and seeing the pines totally covered in crystal white snow as the sun rises on a bluebird powder day. I also love those days where nobody wants to rough it in the weather so they sit in the lodge while I am getting face shots and fresh tracks all day. I love that feeling of when my cold ass face numbs up and snow doesn't hurt it and you feel so warm. I also love watching NS envy over the massive snowfall amounts we have.

To me, skiing is everything. I literally have skiing on my mind 24 hours a day, I dream skiing everything I look at I look at it like how could I jib it. When I'm skiing it feels like absolute freedom and blank my mind and am worry free about other shit. Though my mountain is a tiny piece of shit hill that has jumps built out of horribly shaped dirt piles I need to go and ski it just because I love skiing so much. On weekends I usually drive an hour and a half to a decent hill with an alright park or to another hill called Powderking which is two hours away but I do what I have to do to get out there and hit the slopes. I have the most fun skiing during those slushy park days when you put your music in and get that vibe going and session with a bunch of good friends, or a nice bluebird pow day shredding trees with 4 or five good friends just hitting every jump you see.

an escape from the realities of life and a way for me to just be myself. Im good at it and feel more comfortable on skis then on the ground.

skiing is everything... every day i get stoked on skiing just by looking at an urban rail or chattin about powder with some homies. theres nothing better then a day on the mountian with a group of friends

my winter activity that allows me to escape from the pressures of work and life. In the woods with my friends, nothing else matters but that next turn

Everything. My family skis, pretty much everyone I know are skiers, I ski all over the world, where ever I decide to rent a place during the winter or my job takes me.

skiing is the ultimate departure from every day life. it is also what motivates one in times of crisis. skiing is the greatest teacher and the mountain is the classroom.

Skiing is the best thing that ever happend to me, I day not spend on skis is a day not fully lived. I travel 2,5 hours to a fuckin indoor slope with the train and bus and stuff just to ski. Its everything, and even tho I spend more time recovering from injuries then actually skiing i can't wait to get back. Its what I love it really is my passion. I have been very depressed in the past, but now I would never consider doing anything to myself if I have one more day of skiing left to look forward to. All I do in life is so I can ski as much as possible, I would give up pretty much anything for it. thats about it.
