my parents are flipping on me for my lack of AP class's and grades
i have 3 A's and the rest B's and one pre-ap class

but next year i wasnt planning on taking AP due to our teacher saying how hard it will be

so my parents are saying i have to up my grades or ill be looking at community college
is this true? how is out of state colleges looking?

You'll get into any college you want besides like yale. Don't worry about it your parents are just being dicks

if you have all As and Bs, your fine for college...actually very good for college, def not community college material

That's shenanigans.

But honestly, colleges are so fucking competitive, and they will get even more so next year. I know so many people who have gotten rejected up to 6 or 7 schools they should've been guaranteed a spot in. But I also know people who got into schools they shouldn't have.

College is a crapshoot these days. Good luck though. I'd say don't take the AP class and focus on a club instead. Being a president of a club will look better than failing an unnecessary AP class.

yeah community college is deff like low 2's gps material if youve got a's an b's im sure your in the mid 3's

hey, just on a side note, more of a thread jack since this guys perfectly fine....what does everyone think you could get away with for grades to get into college/community college? like what would be the bare minimum?

Community college around here the only requirement is a high school diploma. So move to Massachusetts with a diploma and you're set!

hahahah thats funny, A's and B's going to community college. Tell your parents that this negative motivation shit doesn't work, and tell them to be honest. If you reaaaaaly wanna go to Harvard then yeah you wont get in unless you have a 4.3 or higher with all AP's and honors courses. Tell your parents to pull that stick out of their ass, but in a polite way, its what I did and it worked. Community college isn't that bad anyway, you learn the same stuff in a less competitive environment and its wayy cheap too. My friend with a 3.7 is going to community college for the monetary reason because his parents are stock brokers and as you can see the economy is pretty fucked right now and will be for a while. That's the only story of a kid with normal-high grades that went to community college that I know. Other than that, you should do fine. It's really no big deal. One word of advice, if you really wanna take the AP, then take it. If you really don't want to and you know that it's gonna mess with your other classes then don't do it because you need to keep your grades looking good, and that's what normal schools are looking for.

I know how you feel. I'm in honors/ higher grade classes with straight a's since 7th grade and whenever I don't get an A on something my parents use the community college ramble. I feel you man

fucking homo's
they have been ragging on me for soo long because of my grades
im going to take the AP class to make them happy and because
all my other classes will be somewhat easy

if you're getting A's and B's AP classes really shouldn't be too hard. I'm pretty much in your boat and they're definitely talked up. They're hard and all but it wont consume all your time or anything

Very true, theyre not that bad at all.
Also, if you're a senior next year, APs end in like early May so you'll be done from then until graduation...likke me right now pretty much. I have 3 APs and 2 electives, and its really not bad at all

for the love of god man don't plan your academic future on NS. doesnt your school have a guidance councilor or somthing they can be helpful

check out utah valley university in utah. hour from the mountains, legit school and basically no admissions. no minimum gpa, all thats required is a diploma and an act or sat score, so you pretty much just have to take it

my dad was always a dick about grades, if i didn't get all A's in IB (similar to AP) classes he would flip (I was scared of him so I always got A's) mainly because he knew I could get all A's no problem. I never really though about it, but he was way crazier than anyone else's parents. I think it was a good thing looking back. I'm about to graduate college with a top GPA and a great job because all I know how to do now is try my hardest. Basically, it may have hindered my high school experience a small amount, but it definitely wasn't a bad thing.

your pops is just lookin out for you. yo and if all else fails community college isn't that bad, saves a ton of money too. theres no way you could not get to any in-state college around you, shits eassyyyyyyy with all the scholarships they have.
