So why no supplements? In the past, I have been very into lifting weights and fitness etc. I consider myself to have an extremely fast metabolism @ 5' 9", and gaining weight was always damn near impossible for me, as I couldn't break above around 150 lbs for the life of me during High School. I was a wrestler for a long time in the 140 lb class so basically I was forced to stay in this range, and I pretty much trained my body to maximize at this weight. Once I quit wrestling I decided to just try and gain weight pretty much for the fun of it, but it was impossible! I literally forced myself to eat constantly and was seeing little results w/ lifting 5 days a week. I decided to go full force and lifted hard 5 days a week, ate like a motherfucker, and added in weight gainer (I should add that I have always taken protein supplements since like 8th grade so that remained constant and I believe strongly in these). Basically for someone like me with crazy metabolism, gaining weight like that required practically complete dedication. You said you don't wanna use supplements, but they worked pretty well for me. I always lifted at about 9 or 10 at night, would take my weight gainer immediately after (which also has 50 grams protien/ serving. And would do some HW, then pass out. Shit worked great, along with lifting and eating tons. I went from 150 to about 175 in not to long of time and my strength increases were insane.
Funny thing is, I went to college and stopped all of this, and went back down to 150 like it was nothing.
