weed that is. why do so many people think that it's so bad to do, and yet they drink? that pisses me off when people say that they will drink and not smoke. first off, weed is not addictive, alcohol is. second, you can't o/d on weed, you can get alcohol poisoning and die. people don't look at the facts, they think that just because it's illegal it's the worst thing you could ever do. it just pisses me off.

what's everybody else's opinion?

i think he might have been joking i would hope. I know exactly what you mean that is so many people at my school and what is funny is that within a year they will be smoking most likely too. This girl smoked with us last week and was like this is soo bad and stuff but she gets trashed as hell everyother weekend and just doesnt even look at facts but whatever. Some people it might have more to do with their parents. Mine would kill me if they caught me smoking again but if they caught me drinking i would just get in a little trouble probrably.

yeah most people's parents are like that, just cause ofthe way that THEIR parents brought them up. but see, my dad was a hippie back in the day, and he still smokes weed weekly, so he gets more mad when he catches me drinkg thatn smoking.

yea that is why my dad pisses me off. He smoked everyday before 9 in the morning for 3 years he told my sister and i got caught and he freaked out. And he yells at me for grades when he went to the shittiest college and then just moved to hawaii and didnt do anything other than get high most likely. So i think lots of parents today are brainwashed sort of by the government into thinking it is really dangerous now.

here is my opinion, take it or leave. in my personal experience (the like 3 times i've smoked) it's an all or nothing high. with alcohol i can control the effect it has on me every step of the way. i know when i can have one more or when i'm done. i know how many beers i can have and still be under the legal limit to drive etc.... with weed it's not so predictable. you also compare it alcoholism. that's not exactly fair. most people don't drink all the time. i go out about 2-3 nights a week, and probably get wrecked one of those nights. for those who smoke....how often do you smoke 2-3 a day EVERY day. put it in perspective....

now for sort of the flip side. how it makes you look from an outsiders point of view. i have alot of friends who smoke and who smoke heavily. quite frankly they've turned into blithering idiots. whoever says it's not addictive doesn't have all the facts. the chemicals are perhaps (and i stress perhaps) not physically addictive but the overall effect is certainly psychologicaly addictive. i see people who can't get out of bed without smoking an L or 3 paper or whatever.

one more thing as far as those who think it opens their minds and such...guess again. again in my personal experience when the conversation turns to something serious or deep, if the person your trying to communicate with has just smoked a joint....forget it. they are fucking retarded. no matter what you believe and how smart you think you sound, your fucking retarded.

like i said, all my opiiniom. your quite free to do as you see fit. once in while though just stop to think about what you're doing and why, wether you smoke OR drink.

My parents don't know that i smoke, but my dad might have a little clue i do, the other day we talked about how much worse alcohol is. Think about it, you run into a pissed off drunk at a party and get ur ass beat. Run into a pot head, you get sorry man, hey do you wanna smoke ??.. Weed brings out creativity in people like writing and shit. Don't quote me, but i herd shakespeer and some other great writers smoked a lot of herb. I just herd that, so i dunno if it is true. My roomate HATES that i smoke, yet he acts like a ass when he is drunk and has smoked before so he contradicts himself constantly. The only thing wrong with weed is it makes you a little dumber or slower if you smoke a lot, but still, i smoke and pull deans list, so it doesn't make that much of a difference. I dont understand why people think it is so wrong. Peace

all the parents in my neiboorhood smoke (they get it off my friends brother), so ive never heard anyone say i shouldnt smoke. and all my neiboors are really smart people so i guess that shows something

haha......yea, i hear you about the not caring too. I used to care so much about being neat and all that crap, but now i just don't, and it makes life easier. I just focus on 3 things now : grades, skiing, and baseball instead of caring about everything. It takes so much for me to get pissed at someone, and the only reason i do is if it is about being super neet or just something that would piss anyone off. People like you more when you like that, and if they don't , then i don't care. The only thing i wish weed did was give you confidence with girls. Alcohol does that more with me at least, and if you can handle yourself with beer, its cool. peace

yea the not caring thing is cool in some ways but at school now or for homework its just like fuck school to me when i dont want to do something. The only thing that keeps me trying right now is toe get my liscence in a couple months. Roswel I have never heard anyone say that even when you are completely stoned ou can still control yourself. As for being retarded when you are stoned too it usually makes perfect sense. I dont really drink much but smoke a lot and the only negative effect it has on me is i dont really concentrate on school much and waste a lot of money

man, when i read threads like this, all i can picture is a bunch of little kids getting high to try and escape from reality. That's so sad.

Do whatever the fuck you, if you find yourself having to find ways to justify your drug use then you shouldn't be using. I used to smoke a LOT of weed, but i've slowed down recently and i am liking it a lot more now. I am getting way higher when i do blaze, and i don't feel like such an idiot all the time. I found that when i was using a lot, i could think about what i wanted to say, but when it came time to verbalize, my brain was pretty much just like fuck you you're on your own.

oh, and i really believe this, most of you are too young to be smoking weed. I really hope it gets legalized just because i want some sort of age restriction put on it. It makes you slow and unmotivated and if you smoke as much as i did it will most likely fuck you up in school too. Wait until you've done some living before you decide to smoke away a couple years of your lives.

yah I smoke a lot. The only negative effect that chron has had on me is my bankaccount. It is just really expensive. But Ive overcome that problem now. And whoever said that weed is addictive, not physicaly but psychologically, well this is true. You can't argue against it. You also cant argue against the fact that skiing is addictive, or any other hobbie that many of us do. Sadly I have to admit that the Governments war on Drugs does work. All people who have ignorant views of pot based completly on what the government has said have been persuaded by the governments feeble war on drugs. Whatever, a biasd, ignorant, misinformed opinion is what some people prefer... so be it.

smoking hasn't really effected me in school, and that's because of skiing. if i didn't ski, and i still smoked, i probably would be getting Ds&Es, but my parents always threaten my with taking away skiing on weeknights, so i try to keep a B average. but then again, i only smoke about once, twice a week

There has been a lot of proven research documenting the effect of smoking weed on an persons mental health. That is....If you smoke weed, and you are prone to mental health conditions like scitzophrenia, you are more likely to develop it.

I am not sure if you guys/girls were aware of this, but I just thought I would make you aware. Don't get me wrong. I smoked my fair share at uni, but I got over it. And I don't want to sound all parental and shit, but it can fuck you up.

My friend started out smoking weed, and became scitzophrenic. He threatened to kill his family so they kicked him out of home. He moved to Sydney and started using heroin. Eventually they got him into rehab, and he was doing OK, but he was still using, and OD' in his car after work last year.

Now, I am not saying that that will happen to everyone if they smoke, but it is a possiblilty it will happen to someone.

So basically, if you are going to do it, be aware of the risks. Would you go backcountry without any knowledge of avalanches?

Well I don't smoke, butt I totally aggree that the so called drug problem in this country doesn't actually involve weed. It is no-more distructive than cigarets.. Weed WOULD be 100% safer if it were legal... If they legalized weed, then people whouldn't be breakin the law for a little high, and underage drinking might not happen so much, as long as those Stupid jerks in the government didn't screw it up and add an age limit..

i didn't read anything else because i'm lazy..but anyways..

weed CAN kill you in one puff..you know, if it's laced with cyanide or something. That just doesn't happen though. Dealers/growers want to make money..that's why they sell/grow...so they don't want to be killing off their customers. A couple girls at my school smoked their first joint they bought pre-rolled and it was laced with tranquillizers which made them puke and have to go to the hospital for a couple days to recover. So it CAN happen..it's just rare.

Anyways...NOBODY has any right to critisize someone for smoking pot. It doesn't hurt anyone. I know people who smoke 15 times or more a day, and you would never know it. So all that 'burnout' shit, is bullshit. The school representative to the board of education at my school smoked so much pot her parents had her in rehab (seriously...no joke), yet she still HAD the second highest average in the school.

In school, we're talking about the possible decriminalization or legalization of pot. If it's legalized, the age would be 16. Personally, I think that is way too young, and is just encouraging much younger children to start. It's shit when people say the if you legalize it, less people will smoke because it's not a rebelious thing to do.

If it wasn't illegal, i think alot more people would smoke. Not that that's a bad thing, I'm just saying.

I don't smoke, and I don't give a shit if other people do or don't. At this time, I think decriminalization would be a smarter move than legalization. Maybe further on legalization would be right. First the us gouvt. has to get the stick out of it's ass.

on 420 last year we were at this girls moms house and we smoke there all the time and then me and my friend packed a bowl and left it on the table in the family room and grabbed food and she was smoking it when we got back and her and her boyfriends or fiancee or something both got baked it was cool.
