What is ath1337?

So I sent off an SAE to NS and they kindly hit me with loads of stickers big and small. As well as several variation of "NS" and "newschoolers.com" I also got a couple of big ones that read "ath1337"...

Can anyone enlighten me as to what that is or what it means? I googled and found nothing and never heard of it on here...

the original gag with that sticker was to make it for our team.

You see someone who is a really badass hacker on the internet would be known as Eliete. They would shorten this to "leet" and spell it "1337" to be cool.

We wanted athletes for the nerdy internet site so:

ath1337 (athleet) was born.
