What is Armada?

Armada is much more than a ski company. Armada is a landmark in the progression of our sport. Where would snowboarding be without sims or burton, the athlete owned and driven companies. What made snowboarding succeed? The fact that it was driven purely by it's athletes. Who could be more in touch with the market than the people who actually partake in the sport? It's simple logic.

Armada is without a doubt the first of a list that is surely to expand exponentially. 4 front will be the next. The success of armada changes things so drastically and in so many ways I cannot even begin to touch on all of them in one sitting. For one thing, the athletes may be taking some slight sacrafice for the very current momement but in one or two more years things will be very very different. Everyone's salary will expand, because it will have to. Finally the athletes will someday be rewarded for the large amount of wealth they generate for a company that they represent.

Although it may seem to the contrary, professional skiers aren't driving benz' and aren't flossin platinum chains (sterling silver at best). The VERY top proffessionals are living fairly solidly but things get put into perspective when you compare a skiers salary to a snowboarders. I personally know for a fact that some of the rookie salaries in snowboarding are as much as some of your favourite top pros. A few more years and the revolution will keep pushing and companies like armada simply speed that proccess.

And here we all are, with front row seats to the best show ever, skiing.

Your articles make so much sense. I think Harvey should be letting you post them on the main page because the articles you right are 100% true and change peoples perspectives for the better. Nice Article and I agree, Line and Armada are the way to go if you really want to support skiing, Dynastar seems pretty dedicated to freestyle too.

yeah i would definateley buy line and/or armada and so would many other aussies but the fact is armada and line skis aren't readily avaliable to australian skiers. We either have to travel to the USA to get them or order the skis in via internet etc.. either way costs a heap extra which makes it really hard when armada skis start at US$500

good article, i think that a lot can be solved by supporting skier driven companies, ie: Line and Armada and soon 4frnt. then progression can really take shape

JISM, hes saying that supporting armada puts money back into our sport. Even if the 1080s ride better, the money you spend doesnt support what we do the same way buying from a rider owned company would.

I agree with you 100%, but thats not everything. You are looking at the morality tale of skiing, and social aspects. But what will decide the fate is in 1 word, business. Armada seems to be quite smart with its limited production, even tho they are almost forced into it. What i'm sayin tho, is that if armada as a business doesnt succeed, then other dreamers will be scared to start there own rider based companies. Its a huge risk, and the fate of skiing lies in Armadas hands. Good luck armada

If armada fails (which there is no doubt in mind that it wont) it certainly wont scare me away from starting a company when the timing is right. So not so much the fate of the sport is in their hands, thats in ours.

assuming the skis arent crap. which im pretty much assuming that they will ride well. I plan on buying ar5's when they are released. I will finally be happy to represent my ski company.

i'm jealous of ure faith in our sport detective. But my advice is try not to get to high hopes. I myself want armada to succeed, it is a giant step, bigger then line. But its the new years, and anything is possible. Let me just say 1 thing, the competition is extremely strong, and the payoffs aren't as big as racing. I think that with lines new binding, twin-tips will be more recognized. Imagine, a company with almost all twin-tipped skis, thinks up of the most drastic change in skiing technology since the shape ski. There will definately be an increase in twin tips sales this year. So what i am saying is that chances are pretty good, but i don't know in the long run.
