What if?

Ok, so I was sitting in class to day and wondered if there were training centers for us (action / adventure sport athletes) where we could go to college, if so is there scholarships available?

The link that made the idea connection above is: 1. At Northern Michigan University there exists thehttp://usoec.nmu.edu/ USOEC (United States Olympic Education Center)

I am a student at NMU pursuing an Entertainment and Sports Promotion Major.

2. I happen to be the terrain park manager at the local ski area Marquette Mountain,http://www.marquettemountain.com/. If you want to see cool pictures of my park check this link out. https://www.newschoolers.com/PHP/Forum/Regional/ReadTopic.php4?post_id=6614&re_co=2&re_ar=22&re_ci=

Yeah check out the links above you will likely catch my drift.

Dream What if……..? That Terrain Park and anhttp://www.woodwardcamp.com type college all made into a collaborative collection of higher education? By the way NMU currently offers Ski Area Managementhttp://www.nmu.edu/business/skimgt.htm

Dare me to make it a real dream!

Drop your two cents!

I hate that idea. The whole point of alot of extreme sports is you dont have to sit in class or go to school. That just sounds unfun, If I wanted to train for my sport Id probably just go do it. Not to mention where the hell is a degree in this school going to get you? ummm nowhere!

i hate people who are racist against people who use drugs.-lilipad84

i actually endorse drug use. i dont do them myself, but i think it acts as a form of natural selection.

a safety conscious drug user...isnt that an oxy-moron?

Exactly my friend.

Yeah its nuts but only nuts people fallow their dreams. Every one else is a part of society: I think of as the sheep, the statuesque, the people that make up the details of statistics.

As nuts go; way back in the day a president of NMU wanted an Olympic Training Center as pat of the campus to help educate future Olympians. His failure is that then and even now there is very little money in that stuff. These Olympians of to day hold more attention of any other athletes Kass, Powers, Mosley ….maybe….probably not. Major League Sports is a whole different animal. I am thinking of the T-Hall and the Pollards, the Tony Hawks and the Shaun Palmers. I think you catch my drift. The action / adventure sports icons, winners of the x-games and such. I want to try and make a New School Olympic Training Center. Let’s just say if be pay attention to the details and toss some perspective on the details we can make this shit happen. I want to at least make a good attempt.

Its like a pyro starting a fire, it starts with a flame then its a fire then a forest fire eating up every thing in its path making news all over the place.

in a sense it would be cool, but then you have to think that its only a select few who get that kind of money in this sport, its such a small number. Ski area management is already offered and seems to be growing in popularity so why not try something off your ideas but offer it as a class of some sorts in the SAM program

Yeah it’s all a matter of thinking out the details. I hope to have a good proposal to push at the right people at the right time.

As most scholarship bound athletes in college, they have no $$ either.

Here is a intresting little ditty I almost for got about

fortune.jpg

An NMU football career that went bust helped Howard Schultz '75 figure out what he wanted to do with his life.

It isn't often a school can boast being in the pages of Fortune magazine, but thanks to Howard Schults, NMU is doing just that.

Schultz, and his company, Starbucks, are the cover story of the January 26, 2004, Fortune magazine. And how can Schultz tell his life story without mentioning NMU? He can't. And that's why you'll find Northern Michigan University mentioned in Fortune.

Granted, the article calls NMU 'one of the coldest campuses in America', which I'm not sure is all that great for recruitment, but don't they say that no publicity is bad publicity?

I think it is the toothless people that dream the biggest...taking a bite of that 7-11 dog without the aid of a retainer, taking over the world...it's all in the same thought. Sorry I need sleep.

Im not trying to rip on you but I just really really dont think this is a feasable or good idae at all. i bet in 3 years we wont be hearing anything about this
