What I Hate About Ski Season

Ok let me just say I love everything about ski season.... BUT I hate this time of year. Its early november no snow has fallen. You keep hearing about global warming and all this other shit and every night I find myself praying that for once the east coast has a good season. Its so unsettling not knowing if we'll get a foot of snow or an inch of rain. West Coasters you don't knwo how lucky you are to have a guarenteed good season every year.

i cried once last year when they had to close my home mountain for a week in FEBRUARY because rain melted almost all snow it had, the mountain never fully recovered and was shitty for the next month it was open

west coast hasn't gotten any snow really, i mean the slc area hasn't... its been cold enough on some days for them to blow snow but really its been warmer then usual i think... i'm ready for the temp to drop by 20degrees and the snow to start fallin.. i hear you man

i get worried cause i rememebr i only got snow on christmas day once, and that is LATE. but i know well get snow in the winter, so im just patient

My local resort didnt open until late january last year because of the warm temps. and no snow

They only opened like 5 or 6 trails the whole winter

its so an ugly season, yesterday i went to Tremblant, i ont know if you have any idea about how many condos and lodges are there but they are plenty and this time of the year only 4% of the are occuped. Usally theres like 12billions of chinese and yesterday any, it the dead season they call it. fortunatly it open the 17th and at the top of the moutnain theres like 3feet of snow at some places, its crazy, 10min north to tremblant its real winter i loved it and all the ski trails are white in the north sie of the mountain

yeah the past few years have been horrible seasons

and every year we say o well next season

and they get progressively worse

im hopin for a better one

trust me we are feeling your pain up here in the Pacific Northwest. Hood has absolutely nothing its in the mid 40's and is raining up there right now, and its not getting colder for awhile. we will pray together

Try living in Southern California. All you guys are complaining about not getting good snow... well how about not EVER getting ANY snow AT ALL?

i hate when its actually below like 15 degrees. then skiing isnt fun.

thats only the park though, id rip pow in super cold weather

then dont live in california...i hate hearing about all these people who have skiied like 10 times already and the colorado mountains that opened like 2 weeks ago already.

umm....what about mammoth??

I live in LA, and I'm planning on being at mammoth 40+ times.

uhhhhhh try living in VA. i think i live in the worst area of anyone on newschoolers, excapt maybe ATLANTASKIER when he was in atlanta

yea. im not complaining becasue I live in the interior BC, but WE had around 6 inches worth of snow, and Its almost all gone due to rain. this shaky time where its a battle between the positives and negatives on the thermometer is a boner kill.

Haha, I can't believe you said everywhere on the west coast is "guaranteed a good season every year." That is far from the truth. Three years ago at Bridger was one of the worst seasons ever, I don't think we even got 200" on the upper mountain (before you say that's a significant amount take into consideration all the rocks it has to cover).

1. West coast isnt guarenteed a great season

2. You people on the east coast dont know how lucky your are to have decent sized mountians

3. Just get over it, go ski when you can and enjoy it

lake effect is gods way of torturing me....i live in a place in the heart of western NY where we never get lake effect. itll snow 2 feet to the west of me, 2 feet to the east of me, half a foot to the north, and half a foot to the south.....thats been the case during the past few weeks. no snow here at all basically.
