What happened to you Jiberish?

I was never really into Jiberish even when they were 'cool'

I'm just way way way too skinny to wear something that huge.

I think it's sad how Pete has to stand up for his brand so a bunch of uneducated kids can get told what's up. I hope he doesn't come in this thread and say the exact same thing he says in every hate thread. Brands change, people change. dealwithit.gif

You're dumb. This is newschoolers. The brand Jiberish goes hand in hand with this website. So yeah, people are gonna bitch and moan when a brand they used to like, a brand that separated them from others, turns into this unidentifiable street wear brand. And since when is it frowned upon to voice your opinion on ns. NSG at that. And if you actually read this thread you would see that people did like the older stuff lots more.

Haters gonna hate but i like their stuff, mostlly because i would wear the vintage floral stuff. and yes you can tell they are moving away from the ski industry they opened a shop in Boston, but you have to think they have families to feed as well and thats where the money is at it is defiantly not as apparent in the ski industry, now i will say that i really liked the winter drop. From reading all of Pete's comments I support the decisions they have made. i mean you gotta diversify some where, and with little room for further expansion their current route isn't bad. just think at least they didn't sell out to some store like nordstoms or something like that. that would have defiantly ruined them. I dunno sorry for rambling my stoned.02

Carry On Jiberish.

the hats are way dope.

Umm, cause we would prefer if they didnt change? Duh? That's not agains the rules.

And unless you're friends with them why would you care about how 'successful they've become'. That sounds like some hipster shit to me

Look, I totally understand the all reasons why Jiberish is doing what their doing. The bottom line though is I don't want to buy their stuff anymore, and that sucks. Again I don't expect them to cater to me or care about me specifically, I just wish I could be stoked on their new stuff but I just can't.

Not at all. There's not an insane amount of hype for the products and the hoodies don't cost $150+ on resale. I mean supreme is cool but you know the brand has way to much hype when you can buy a plain white pocket tee and resell it for $50 online. Jiberish is nothing like that and never will be.

I think they still want an influence in the skiing industry, yet they just want to expand to a larger more profitable market. In turn helping other ski companies, and skateboard companies. Maybe the realize, since they're already a part of the skateboarding community, they would rather expand into that market and try too have the same effect on skateboarding as they did on skiing and snowboarding. Get that appeal that just grabs other people like most of us with jiberish, and i think it's great, they're a business and they can do what they want.

definitely glad theyre straying from the thuggie styles, i'd wear literally everything on there except the steal lie and cheat, and the two digi camo hoodies. very clean line, props jibsiss

their spring summer line is sick, im pumped on it, ill probably buy a piece or two.

the brand is maturing, their main market/audience is maturing, its a move in the right direction, youll eventually learn to love it and see its merit, i am sure

I feel as i mature id rather not wear a hoodie that is paper thin and still costs more than a hoodie that cost half as much and is twice as warm

let the brand mature, thats fine, let them open up and broaden their horizon, or...mass of people who might be interrested in their stuff way beyond skiers i would do that too if i owned a clothing brand, but most of what they have now is simply buttugly and their stuff just seems like they made it in 15 minutes.

Shacket is an exception.

It boggles my mind how much money kids are willing to spend on this overpriced shitty clothing.

I could somewhat understand it before when it was more of a "skiing" brand, and you want to stand out from the rest of the kids at your high school. But now?

I actually think that first shirt is pretty cool. Also i like that america sweatshirt, but its definitely not worth the money.

warmth isnt necessarily applicable in terms of a company's spring/summer line, as that is not the intended functionality of said hoodies/jackets. would you wear a windbreaker in the middle of winter and then rant and rave about how it costs more than a down filled jacket, whose intended purpose is warmth.

price is entirely relative, you can make the same argument with any outerwear company.

http://www.evo.com/insulated-jackets/arcteryx-micon-jacket.aspx

for $639.20

vs

for $159.90

as you mature and smarten up you wouldnt wear summer clothing in winter and expect it to keep you warm.

and to PASKALEV

you may think something is "buttugly" however they seem to be selling well. you said you liked the shacket, good, buy it if you want, dont buy the other stuff. the reason they design and release a range of patterns and designs in each category is an attempt to appeal to everyone in their target market.

i like nike sb, but that does not mean i like EVERY shoe in EVERY colorway. this can be said with any clothing/apparel/fashion company. fashion follows trends, jiberish generally attempts to stay ahead of or at least keep up with these trends.

look at some fashion trends that have developed over the years, kids used to HATE tight snowpants, now look at how many companies make a slim fit line, or have multiple slim offerings. same goes with jeans, etc. same can be seen in music and movies, and almost any other market in the world.

that isnt to say that you personally will learn to appreciate jiberish's summer/spring designs this year, but id be willing to bet that many people who are hating on it now, may be wearing something rather similar to this line now. again, not saying this is true for everyone, but it does tend to happen to a large majority.

Anyone who says this, especially while simultaneously trying to talk down on someone else's opinion on clothing, is not mature enough, nor smart enough, to be saying it.

i was referring to his comment:

"i mature id rather not wear a hoodie that is paper thin and still costs more than a hoodie that cost half as much and is twice as warm"

no intention to talk down his opinion on the clothing, only the reference to the function of the garment. as i reread it, definitely came off backhanded.

a summer line generally consists of light clothing that is more along the lines of a windbreaker. it would be like comparing the price of summer performance tires and the price of winter tires, implying that the winter tires are better because they drive better in the snow, while they both serve the same basic function, have two entirely different purposes

i love the hats. and the floral shirts are super sick, im just not a huge fan of how they fit. Wish they were a bit slimmer as I'm a pretty skinny guy.

My favorite stuff from the drop:

Floral patterns and paisley rule. I've been rocking this dark blue and green paisley shirt for like 5 years. Erry body love it.

I buy my stuff based on how long its going to last me and what use i can get out of it. Their shit ised to be really cool cause it was different and kinda pushing the edge of whats cool....but a t with a bandana pattern on it and an aztec pattern? What makes me identify that as jiberish or ski reltated or worthy of the insane price for something w such low functions? Idk guess thats why i got sick of doing graphic design work

definitely. if you dont like the design, it doesnt meet your functional requirements, you dont want to spend that much on it, whatever, thats that, i dont have any argument or anything against that.

my main points were that you cant berate a product because it doesnt function outside of its intended purpose, and that this movement away from their old designs back in the day to where they are at now is not something exclusive to jiberish.

voleurz is another prime example, you can look at their winter 2010 - final release and watch the progression of their designs, patterns, and colorways. while this doesnt cover their ENTIRE history of voleurz, it gives a pretty good snapshot of the progression. bright vibrant colors - pastel colors - subdued earth tones - etc.

I respect your points. I just stick to my older jiberish and now i tend to buy sagas stuff its still has that feel i like. This is purely my opinion as always

I my opinion I think this new Jiberish is sick. It's nice to be able to rock their clothing to school, work, dinner etc... When they used to produce that big and bright clothing I mean it was "hip with the times" in the skiing culture. Skiing has changed drastically since then. Face it, style is now a more tapered and sophisticated look. Even in skiing, look at Keefer, Kutcher and Pollard. They don't wear extremely baggy and bright clothing. There are of course exceptions to this as there is in most things in life, look at Edollo and Phil Casabon, they have a style all their own and kill the baggy look. Jiberish is looking to expand their retail market. It makes much more sense to make nice looking tapered clothing that the majority of streetwear consumers. Keep doing what your doing Jiberish. Skiing culture has changed for the better, and hopefully style will continue to original

HAHAHA

I messaged jiberish on Facebook about a month ago about this topic and the second post u got is exactly what I got WORD FOR WORD just copy and pasted... Wow

No you can't say that skiing's "style is now a more tapered look". everyone has their own style. Jiberish is just conforming to the mainstream. Baggy and bright>earth tone

no, BUFU

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

but I won't be buying any jiberish unless they start making cool designs again or drop their prices about 300%
