What Happened to the Photo Section?

So much clutter and photos that you usually would never see (gear(I assume for BST), random photos of not skiing, etc.)

I know it's a "dead" time for content but I can't recall a time it was ever so saturated with garbage.

We changed the way categories work, which accidentally removed all the category restrictions we used to put on what comes up in the main photo gallery.

However, that was months ago and nobody noticed it until now.... and we didn't do anything because we sort of figured instagram ate the photo section.

We just might start to tweak it though - in my mind the photo section should either be deleted or get an overhaul.

Does anyone still use it?
 
If the photo section was organized something like the new Video Beta, then it would be amazing. Its just a mess and needs a little help before anyone will use it again.

Yeah that is sort of the direction we were thinking too. That structure of tags which is in the video section can easily be moved over to photos.

I guess in my mind people just used instagram for photos. Photos on here have had a long struggle.

We can definitely refresh it though if there is interest?

Got rid of it.

If you want to publish to the gallery - you publish to the gallery.

If you want to put a photo in a thread, you can now do that directly.

If you want to store personal photos... use facebook.

I still use it, and will continue to throughout the upcoming season. I'd say keep it, for reason that (if we can get people to post often) will keep users on Newschoolers, rather than Instagram/ Facebook. It's also an easier way to share user content from people who actually use the site, rather than people who use Instagram exclusively.
 
I think people post higher quality photos on NS too.

Plus what would happen to photo of the day and the cover photo every day?

I mean I do agree with this.... so maybe we'll try to give it a coat of paint and see what happens.

Well they would go away is what would happen.
