I'm not saying that it is "thug" per say,I'm just saying that skiing is starting get recognized by wu-tang and other rappers who are considered thugs or gangsters. That's not to say that we now have justification to and wont look like a dumbass doing a bunch of hand signals and etc. but we are more justified now than we were 5 years ago.

The Thug Era began in 2002-2003 (SM3 year ) , peaked in 2008/2009 (jon brogan) and began the decline around 2012.

Everything is cyclical.. It looks like the new hot shit is rocking stuff inspired by the late 70s/early 80s with a mashup of 90s influence
 
Hopefully the style is dead for good. Watching a bunch of upper class, white teenagers pretending to be 'gangsta' was probably the most embarrassing trend I've lived through.

I was a gangsta that became a skier, not a skier that became a gangsta. And that's why I stay G with the baggy clothes n fur hoods
 
People love to get on their high horse about not acting thug. Let people act the way they want. I find baggy clothing to look good on the hill, but not off the hill. I don't think any skier who wears over sized clothing genuinely thinks they're a thug.

There's two things here. One is XXXXXL tees and throwing up gang signs and, as MSP pointed out, being too cool to claim stuff. That's all dumb. The second part is the style of skiing that came from this, and the vibes that came from edits, which are both legendary, as I feel Ghood and Fuck! show. Afterbang also came from this era which is sick when properly executed. This still lives on, but not as prevalent.

Its better than the JAH BLESS THE DAY shit that some guy who posts in all caps unleashed on the sport.
