What happened to the G aspect of skiing??

I watched some old superunknown edits and some other old videos and everyone was about afterbang, bandanas, XXXXXL, and other gangster ass shit. What happened?

Jamal the urban coach stabbed a kid who tried to be thug but actually sucked at skiing because he didn't ride the fucker. From then on we all realized that if we dressed like thugs and didn't ride the fucker we would be visited by Jamal and stabbed to death.

This. Same thing happened to thug skaters and snowboarders.

The 1 season of TC pretty much illustrated what it used to look like. I liked that way more than the skinny bullshit now.

Maybe people realized that a bunch of elitist, rich white kids had no place wearing 4XL clothes, making thug hand signs, listing to Wu-Tang and shit while gliding around snow on $500 skis, $400 bindings, and $600 boots. the "G" era of skiing is actually embarrassing.

I think theres just more variety on the hill (which is a good thing imo)...still plenty of people rocking baggy outerwear out there

It doesn't matter what race you are, how much money your family makes, or how expensive your shit is. If you like the way the thug style looks, rock the shit out of it. I don't think it makes sense for a kid to be told not to dress in a manner that makes him or her feel like his style looks the best just because his/her parents are more successful than others.

You're all ignorant as fuck for saying rich white people shouldn't dress a certain way. What the fuck does baggy clothing have to do with your skin colour?

what's embarrassing is you thinking that kids who dress like that buy $400 bindings.

Times have changed, Its cooler to be hesh now and rock that tight look. I personally rock the baggy. Its comfier for me, and fits my style of skiing more. Gotta keep the identity in crisis, being thug is not totally gone. I am a privileged white male, I wear khakis and work as a cashier at a grocery store and go to school, but when I get up on the hill I get to be a mutha fuckin gangstah. I throw my W in the air, heavy head everything, and try to keep it as OG as possible.

Rossignol FKS 18. MSRP is $399.95. Maybe my math is off, but I'm pretty sure $399.95 is just under $400. Can't confirm or deny though.

let me check my calculator.

anddd carry the 1...

yes, you are correct.

no one ever said you can't have a stylistic preference. I'm a tall guy, I like big jackets and baggy pants. What I don't do if talk like I graduated high school and throw up "gang" signs in edits. I didn't grow up in Compton. I'm not trying emulate some fucking rap group because I like their music. I'm not going to pretend like I can identify with what it really means to live a "thug" life like I've ever encountered real struggle. Maybe thug was the wrong word to use to characterize that style and era. but good riddance, thank god it's gone.

its not and stop acting like you were above it. skiing is about fun and when someone criticizes what you wear or how you ski then its like fucking mean girls shit.

just stop.

I never fucking criticized what people wear OR how people ski. Jesus Christ. Read a sentence for me one time.

"the G era of skiing is quite embarrassing."

Seems like a whole lot of criticizing..... Its what is implied by your comments. Learn to implied for me one time.

If you read what I wrote, all I talked about were mannerisms. Never once referred to any stylistic aspect of skiing. Infer whatever you think is implied, but I never once mentioned that.

idk but i still watch edits like i feel g-hood, or henrik's slammina part very often. og days were imo the golden days. remember when it was about who made the illest self-made tall tee hoodie n shit. that was fun.

maybe its because in the og days i felt like there was more brotherhood between skiers in sense that we were there all for simply fun, not fucking comps, comp jocks were nonexistent. watch SLAMINA and tell me the feeling wasn't different back in the day.

now its like quoting T-Hall: "IM THE BEST. FUCK THAT. SIMON DUMONT FUCK THAT."

Iv never been a fan of the "G Look" per say...I have always worn for the most part fitting clothes a little on the bigger side I find I ski best in it. That being said.. I love rap music especially older rap and love the vibes it gives I think its awesome in ski edits. But I love to emulate the rap style of skiing from early 2000's. Still afterbanging hard, not throwing up gang signs, but that loose, care free style is where its at for me.

cause Geopper is on top of podiums rather than THall

not really but if you look at life in general the thug and G aspect of skiing was during the same era NBA, NFL, etc would dress "thug and G" whereas now look at what LeBron, Russell Westbrook, etc where to interviews and compare that to what Allen Iverson wore. I just feel style as a whole is changing not just skiing

If you're real at skiing, and have style and steeze, You can dress just as G as you fucking want. Now it all went wrong when pussys who can't bang at all started dressing like G's. Tom wallisch, B dog, henrik, Simon, T-hall and soo many more freestyle skiers dressed like that because they went hard as fuck on and off the slopes and were "G's"

I'm just waiting for the day that we enter into the GS era, where all the crazy kids that go hard are rocking their GS suits for maximum aero off lips.

Let us fold our arms in prayer so that never happens

they're over now, but along with the days of the 3 phils and jp, i'd argue that the g days were one of the periods that had the biggest impacts on freestyle skiing.

people tried to look and ski radically different from your average gaper. Style became more important than the tricks themselves. Tonnes of game changing pros made their marks. Real pretzel spins on rails were introduced. I think that's where park skiing really became a separate sport with a separate culture, but the world spins on.

In a sense it's becoming more thug, or at least more legitimately thug. With Inspired's connections skiing is becoming more prominent in the hip hop world. Wu-tang and such are well aware of the dreaded swedish hobbit we call edollo and they are stoked on him. People might not be as flamboyant as 2009-2010 but its becoming more recognized in the "thug" world

Seriously, what the fuck are you talking about?

You are confused. Go find me some thugs- like in the ghetto thugs- and ask them if they want to go skiing. I bet they have their Subarus packed, bro. Lol

Fucking children these days, Jesus Christ. So eager to be a piece of shit.
