What happened to PBP?

it seems as if PBP hasnt really put out any good movies in the past few years since EDIAS, (which still doesnt really compare to how good they were a good while back) they still get great footage but the movies in my opinion have been terrible to watch as a whole. They just seem too long and put together terribly with poor music and lack originality. I no longer have that excitement to order the movie as soon as i can to watch it as a movie, but solely for the people I enjoy watching skiing in it. (Now you may argue that "isn't that the point of buying a ski movie?" but i feel that a ski movie should be great in all aspects including the editing, soundtrack, structure, originality etc.) But I didn't post this thread to bash on PBP I am truly wondering if there was a major change in who edits the movies and if not this could just be a request to put out a movie as good as session 1242 again.

you hit the nail on the head. they're team is so stacked, and its such a shame that they cant havent produced a banger movie in awhile

PBP always produces awesome flicks... That said, Reasons is still my absolute favourite of the bunch. That movie basically shows skiing at it's peak.

Everything went downhill when Decesare stopped being hands-on with production around 2006.

i agree with this. EDIAS was the last great on ein y opinion and i loved everyone before that (especially War). hopefully things will turn around

I hated WE with an absolute passion. They need to get their sound track sorted its been so shit for ever since EDIAS

Usually I order their movies first but this year I´m just not that stoked. The trailer looked wack and nobody seems to like it

I agree!! I regret ordering WE, should have bought Sunny instead

EoS was also terrible, Stept was this seasons winner by far

You saying that Revolver is your favourite shows me that you havent watched a single PBP movie before EDIAS.

It all started to head down hill with Yeah Dude

Seriously though whoever thought Yeah Dude would be a good name for the film is fucking retarded

He quite possible could be the only skier on earth to say that Revolver was a better ski film than War, X=10 , 1242 or fuck even yeah dude!

this seems like a logical explanation.

the nostalgia factor probably plays into it too, but i do agree with the points in your original post wyatt.

One of my favorite episodes. The one where they get surfing lesssons in indo is great too.

Also one of my favorite episodes.

MSP and TGR are still pumping out killer flicks, superheroes of stoke was hand down the best ski movie I've seen in a long time!

ya, as far as the editing and just how the movies are structured, they have sucked for a long while.
Happy Dayz, WAR, & Session 1242 were amazing ski movies. I think they need to narrow down the crews that film for their movies and bring some serious new focus to the editing.

1242 is o e of the best movies of all time without a doubt, and EDIAS was good as well. I thought the Grand Bizarre was pretty good, but was not as good as they could have done. Next years movie is about to be insane though

For the record the first PBP movie I saw was EDIAS, so I guess I don't really know the "good ol PBP"

EDIAS was the first ski movie I ever saw and it inspired me to be a "freeskier", so I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Then I saw So Far So Hood and Refresh, and those two blew EDIAS out of the water in my opinion.

Eye Trip and Gunnie Season destroyed Revolver

I liked After Dark the most, followed by Weight, Beggin for Change, and then Grand Bizarre

Sunny and Eighty Six destroyed WE as well.

What a shitty opening segment from PBP this year, macklemore, mac miller, whatever with 70% double cork 12's.

I thought the Grand Bizarre was solid, but any skier doing the same 5 tricks 20 times in the backcountry is not going to cut it for an opening segment.

I fucking loved some of the cinematography in We, but as whole it didn't impress me. Something about the way it was put together. I can't put my finger on it exactly.

1242, by far the best flick ever made. 2nd favorite: propaganda. I completely agree, recent PBP films have lost its charm

I could definitely see some truth in this, but what about level 1? Sunny was a great movie and it seems like most of the reaction on NS has been positive.

But Level 1 does basically the same thing with less famous people and their quality hasn't really taken a hit at all.

No ski company can make an amazing movie every single year. Some companies come close, but there will always be years that are better than others. On top of that, everyone remembers that one movie that got them in love with the sport more fondly than the rest. In 5 years there will be kids talking about how We is their favorite movie of all time because it opened up the world of freestyle skiing to them.

And if there weren't any segments you liked in Revolver or Grand Bizarre, you're a jaded old dude.

That's not what we're talking about. We're talking about PBP putting out banger movies every year for 7 years, followed by utterly mediocre movies for 6 years.

And yes, I'm a jaded old dude.

No i haven't, EDIAS was the first movie i ever saw and it got me into freeskiing, does it really matter that i haven't seen any before, you could tell me what i'm missing out on but give a man a break here.

I agree PBP is definitely losing steam.

What happened to the dope early season trailers that would get everyone so hyped? I loved the one for revolver even though revolver sucked.

i actually kinda liked revolver, but like most others here i'd say things went downhill after EDIAS.

war and ski porn are classics in my collection though. i remember back in like 9th grade i would just watch them over and over again on my ipod video. good times.
