What happened to Andy Mahre and Pep Fujas???

Hahahahahaha water ramped.

Here that, you're bitter, that's why you did those dastardly deeds you did at X.

Whoever dosen't get why boxes should not be at X is an idiot. I was sitting there with my girlfriend watching it, and she was like would you ride this course. I was like, yah, I would, and about every skier and snowboarder I know would too. It's boxes, moderately easy rails, and then huge jumps I would just straight air. I shouldn't be able to trick every rail feature on the X-Games course.

they are all sick skiers and i love what they are doing so word. who cares. us newschoolers always discuss things like this endlessly possibly in order to make some trend out of it idk?

but they are sick, they are pushing the sport and they are having fun

i dont see a problem or conflict or anything

just my thoughts...

Peronaly i used to think spin to win was gay and overrated... until i learned to spin. Once you learn than you know what? you can actually make it look steezy. If i was in the X games i wouldnt do spread eagles or stupid shit like that simply because it is the event that most people outside of the ski community watch.

SO would I. No reason not to have fun. Skiing is about fun, I for one am tired of cookie cutter runs repeated,

spin to win= overrated!

GO Andy and Pep

haha i read "did they fell" in the starting post and all i could think of was charles gagnier "i thought i was going to dead"

maybe just maybe they are two of the most progressive skiers out there invited to a competition where progression is stunted...and if any on wants to doubt their abilit please go try and do sw 1 off a cornice to a 1 the tech shit they throw is beyound any other rider in that competition... and those that think they are better prolly can't touch a blue run outside the park

First, calling anything FUCKEN GAY in a post usually immediately disqualifies your opinion from consideration by anybody of intelligence. Second, if you can do 5s like Andy and Pep can do fives, then WHY AREN'T YOU IN THE X GAMES? And third, if you had seen them skiing in practice, you wouldn't have posted in the first place, except maybe to say how incredibly good both skiers are.

As for their results (which I think was the original point of the thread), I didn't see all of their runs, but I think I remember seeing at least Andy wash out on a landing. I don't think either stomped a solid run during the qualis—they either fell, or goofed off.

the jumps weren't even that big... x-games jumps should be super park style... or atleast the size of brecks

also i believe they were throwing sickness like this

zero shiftys

web_5.jpg

and another?

web_05.jpg

and they had no poles...-10 ponts automatically...wicked fags doood

Wasn't he doing that because he was missing speed?

Anyway, most of the people are not bitching Andy and Pep, actually, from what I heard, what they did is pretty progressive and innovative. And I don't think doing super stylie 5s deserves less appreciation than sw. 10s, but that's only my opinion.

And for the "no poles" thing, personally, I ski with poles, but I think people skiing w/ no poles is rad as long as they have style doing it. Diversity is the future of skiing!

Jesus, you people... you hate on two guys because they were out there having a great time and showing people something a little different that what we're used to. Personally, I thought it was great that they did it. Lighten up already, skiing is about having fun.

And can someone please post a video or two of their runs? I'd like to see how rockered skis do in a park setting!

shit, and with all this hate I can't believe someone didn't call out the idiot who called the cover page lame. Its a zero shifty not to mention this was at the biggest circus of an even ever and the shot is mega clean (no follow cam, no boom mikes, none of that aesthetically detracting crap.)

ski better than candide? are you joking? (i'm not saying this because he won x, even if he would've lost i would still defend him) Have you seen candides cork 3's that he threw at his invite? They were fucking insane!

This thread is ridiculous.

Andy, thanks for replying to the masses about your X-Games runs. The water ramp statement is hilarious. BTW, your line at the end of Ski Porn was retardedly good.

To the rest of the audience, I cannot believe you would take something like this so seriously. Does it bother you that they were scored low? It sounds like they had fun which is what this sport is all about.

To Mr. Stone, your post was dead on.

im pretty sure they were invited and xgames isnt about giving guys a chance to compete, thats usopen. x is about having the best riders throw down against eachother and im pretty fuckin sure mahre and fujas are two of the best shredders out there right now, powder and park (i'd like to see all those guys do a 180 then spin a 360 against the way they spun the 180 like pep from jon invite last year)

werd, i was watching footage from the "scare case" and its really not taht scary, i've hit very similar setups at family resorts.

"I never thought pep fujas was an amazing skiier, but someone at k2 liked him, which is why he is in videos"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Buddy pep is quite possible the single best skiier alive right now. Do you have any idea what you're talking about?! Pep started the whole landing/skiing switch in powder thing. He kills is everywhere he goes. Watch his segment in 1242 and try to tell me that is not the most amazing ahead of it's time segment ever. Seriously it is still better than most segments put out today. Pep obviously isn't a very good skiier, how bout the very last shot of his segment in War? I'll bet you 100 dollars you'd fall 10 at least 10 times before landing that, but it's more likely that you could never get the balls to do it.

Wow that got me going. I'm still in amazement that somebody could honestly think that pep isn't that good of a skiier.

Does ANYBODY have footage PLEAEEASSE of their run? I want it just to shut all these little ignant 12yr olds up. And also to shit my pants.

after seeing the park city vid, i have decided that they are allowed to do whatever the hell they want.

It was great havin those 2 at X. It was really cool to see something diferent at a major event. Peps switch butter 450 gap 2 out was retarted........

its not like they cant do switch 10s perfectly every single time. picasso at age 10 could draw like a motha fucka and once ur that good drawing you gotta do something to pushit thats why did all those crazy paintings that are with bajillions. so pep and andy=picasso. good anology eh?

can i get a ay men to that brutha from a different mouth. and to any one ho is saying aw bla bla bla they didn't deserve to be invited bla bla bla i can do 5s to bla bla bla .... suck my ring.... Andy and Pep can do what eva the hell they want. in my opinion they are the creme dala creme of skiers. and i think because of this they can do what eva the hell they want. and as for all you we fags ho are hating these guys for dewing what they did ......SHUT UP AND GO SKI and grow some balls f***ing girls

i love that people have completely misunderstood the point you guys were making at the xgames.

if everyone who goes to a comp has fucking Vaginas between their legs the sport will go nowhere.

if you spend your summers getting switch 10s on lock and ONLY throw those or switch nines (on the features that arent big enough to sw10) this sport will go nowhere.

well, the sport will go somehwere. shit will get bigger and bigger.

when you have kids bitching at you for having fun at a contest (and still doing fucking gnarly tricks) there really isnt any reason to do something creative anymore. yes. its a contest. the point is to win.

but i think there are enough people trying for the perfect switch ten already.

lets see some creative riding, no?

case in point: chris senn. always the skater favorite, always my favorite. the guy would come to xagmes every year and just rip around the course, giving us his interpretation of it all. and you know what? it was a breath of fresh air. it was nice to see someone taking chances, and keeping shit real.

real.

thats what we dont care about any more. real riding.

we want mega features. we want 70mm film. we want exotic locales. we want bullshit, guys.

lets see what these dudes can do. more importantly, lets see what these dudes want to do. if they are having fun doing it Im pretty fucking sure that at least some of us will too.

so give them a chance, and stop bitching about these "two wasted spots"

wow, i know ns.com is ignorant, but this is great. You people that are banging on Andy and Pep have no fucking idea what you're talking about and I will go out on a limb and say that you are the reason this sport is turning into a junk show. By junkshow I mean lets see who can spin and flip the most off a jump. Skiing is just like any other board sport in that what we do is completely all about individual expression. Ski how you want, where you want, and as fast as you want. To the kid that asked "What Pep has done in the past 5 or 6 year?" and "K2 just likes him that's why he is in videos." Let me be perfectly clear, you embody everything that is gay about skiing and skiers, in essence you are the one footed slide. I want you to go and buy the Oakley Movie Sessions 1242 and watch Pep's segment. If you watch while remaining objective, meaning without bias, you will have to ask yourself, "what the fuck was I thinking?" Pep is one of the few pioneers for switch skiing in the backcountry and ambi spins(spinning in all directions). Kids its not how you fast you can spin, it's how good you are able to control each body part in the air i.e. style. Now I'm not saying that only style is important, but if you approach skiing from more of a building block perspective, you will find your potential limitless. That I can assure you. Now we come to your thoughts on Andy Mahre, Andy is the future of progressive freeskiing, quote me right now. Who cares if he has poles or not, again it's about individual expression. I used to be the biggest hater on no poles until I first had the opportunity to film with Mahre, if you're skiing switch, poles have zero functionality, that being said you can use them if you want to. Once you ask yourself why you're against something and really explore your resistance you usually find out that its' based on some ill concieved notion. To free yourself of this can be liberating and can make you a better skier. Am I saying that skiing with no poles will make you a better skier? No of course not. Am I saying that maybe one day you go out and try to ski every run at your local ski hill switch from top to bottom? Absolutely! After doing 10 runs at your local ski hill you will ask yourself, "What the fuck am I holding on to these for?" I don't care who you are, you will ask this. I'm willing to bet thought that 85% of the people on this sight can NOT ski every run at their ski resort switch, but instead of working on their craft they sit on here and bitch. Normally I don't even read posts like these but this one happens to concern a good friend of mine and the sport that I love. If doing 1260's onto a rail is what you love then by all means do it, but if pep and andy want to due a whole run spinning nothing more than a 5, then by all means respect that. Go and watch the holes that Andy won at the back 9. Period. Here's a novel that I just wrote and you may want to print it. Hopefully my words will have some impact on your ideas concerning freeskiing, more than likely however you will shut them out. Do with them what you wish. I'm gonna go bang some switch runs.

word

andy and pep you are sick.

just as candide is.

just you ski diferently.

stop hating on andy and pep because they do something different.

what max said.

Andy, Pep, you guys kill it. keep it up.

and the next time your at Mt Baker, say hey! i'll be bussing at white salmon.

i guess that all depends on what their "home" hill is. plus, i bet 100% of the people who live at areas such as mammoth, alta, or whistler can't ski every run switch at their respective hills. yeah maybe all the groomers switch, but some of the chutes? and i bet 100% of the riders at any resort that allows tree-skiing can't ski all of their runs switch either.

so i guess you're argument here was pointless (at least in this sentence)

it's funny how everyone always seems to envision skiers throwing tricks with the same style and flow of "snow-boarders" and when someone manages to stand out and be a little different they still criticizes

true. but still, whats more liek snowboarders than not having poles? i think not having poles just really mentally changes how you balance your body (without holding two weights on your hands), which i am all for

ya i guess my comment on skiing switch was pointless, it's only supposed to apply universally to every single person on the face of the earth. the reason i did list it as 85% was to account for the fact that the most ski resorts per state are between New York and Michigan with 52. now at these areas there are tree runs, but very seldom are they marked. that means that the most freeskiers reside in these areas. the 15% was meant to be covered for all the people that live in good mountain towns. to be completely honest, the kids that live in these big mountain towns, spend alot more time skiing than they do bitching on the internet. but shit man i'm curious how many times you had to read my post to copy and paste an excerpt from it and bang on it. that is the thing about ignorance, it leaves no room for context. i'm not positive but are you a ski jock? i do come across them in my travels, you know the meathead on the football team that gets skis. read that sentence twice and get back to me.

I think if everyone skied as well as Andy and Pep the X games would be much more fun to watch. If you pay attention to any competition, local or the Xgames you will see the kids that win throw switch 9s and 10s but there are also those kids killing it just as hard doing perfect zero spins, 5s, switch 7s and things like that. Those kids never get any love from the judges but I think those are the kids that are worth watching the most. Andy and Pep were those kind of kids at the X games. You cant fault the judges for scoring them low for not doing the hardest tricks but I still think their runs were just as good as everyone doing switch 1080s on every hit.
