What gets you through long drives?

I'm making the drive from Las Vegas to Telluride later today. Its about a 9 or 10 hour drive and I'm really not looking forward to it.

Does anybody have any good methods for getting through longer drives (I'm not going to be able to sleep through it all because I have to help navigate/drive the whole time).

(for your time)

Not much other than tunes... Im pretty good at just zoning out on long drives. Honestly smoking helps too, seems to be the only time ill smoke is long drives.

Tunes. Do you have a passenger? That always helps a lot.

Also when I get tired/sleepy I eat sunflower seeds and no matter how badly im falling asleep it always keeps me awake.

Grab a blunt, some friends, and an iPod. Pick some albums you've never heard and listen through them. I like to stop every three hours and run around a bit, keeps you from feeling like complete shit when you get there.

I typically drive for hours with my horse trailer behind me, it gets very rough out there. Often times I think of my wife. In our middle-aged years we have experienced it all, and are still together, as loving and carefree as the first day. I always think about getting home to lay my wife in bed and SLAM her all night. It really gets me through the long hours on the road. Recently, however, I have experienced a bit of trouble "getting up" (if you know what I mean..). This has caused a great strain in my life. Luckily, I found a fantastic pill for men like me, one that has improved my sex life greatly. Honestly, the whole experience reminds me of a time on the road I once had. I had been driving all day, the sun was nearly setting above the mountains that I call home. I was cutting across the dirt roads that I had become all so familiar with, and what do ya know, I got stuck in some mud. I sat there for a second, fed up with the driving and wishing I was 5 inches deep in my hotwife right then. But then I remembered the horses who always travel with me. I haltered them to the front hook on my truck and sat in the cab, gave it some gas and gave the horses the go-ahead. Next thing I knew I was out of the mud and getting rough and tumble with my sex goddess wife that I have.

Doing a lap of your own car.

Put on cruise control, crawl out of the window, over the roof, crawl back in through the opposite window and assume normal driving position again.

definitely tunes. consider crafting up a playlist. and like gato said, full albums are great on road trips.one time I got stuck coming home from skiing on a monday afternoon cause there was an accident on the freeway (it was the 401 near cambridge for ontario folk) and we were inching up for like 5 hours. I got tired of music so I called my mom and chatted with her then I called my girlfriend and chatted with her then I finally just jerked off. jizzed in a tim hortons bag. I dont think anybody noticed. it was really easy cause I barely had to drive.

Music and a redbull or two get me through long drives, but the longest drive ive been on was only 4 hours so i wasnt to bad anyway.

Tunes. Don't be afraid of the radio. Sometimes random radio stations and even shitty music is perfect. On long drives I'll even hit a country station for a few, listen to some christian music or talk radio, find some rock, then go back to my own music.

Avoid energy drinks so you don't crash and crash. They're alright when you're nearing the end of your journey but it's tough to keep up on them the whole way. Then if you're really getting tired you can bust out some coffee or one of them later and stay up. I've bought a 12 pack of mt dew or something just to get a little caffeine. and something to keep a little hydration going.

Grab food when you see it. Not a bad idea to grab some snacks at a gas station in case you don't see much else. If there's something open with food that 3-4 am burger and fries and work wonders. Get out and stretch on a piss break every once in a while.

If you are legit too tired to drive and starting to have microsleeps just pull the fuck over somewhere and sleep. Rest area's are good for it. If you're not on highways walmarts are always good for it.

Sparknotes:

Food

Something cold to drink maybe with some but not a shit ton of caffeine.

Stretch a little bit when you stop for piss breaks

Pull over if you're too tired. Better to take longer to get there than crash on the way.

cut the exhaust off of your car. that will keep you alert.

if you are a pussy and dont want to actually cut it, there is usually a flange you can unbolt somewhere around the cat

if you are driving on the highway1. Find hot girl

2. Match her speed and jack off while looking at her (bonus points if its a cop)

3. ????

4. PROFIT!!!

Coffee, music, podcasts, and NPR usually.

My trips are at most 6 hours usually so I can get a good mix of music and talk shows in.

Also, if I get tired I pull over for a few min ad walk around. That will usually wake me up for another hour or two.

Personally, I just get a good nights sleep and go for it.

Having a comfortable car and a decent sound system also helps. Basic amenities like cruise control, A/C, and sunglasses are also a must. Tinted windows are a bonus.

Apart from the above, eat well (skip the McDonalds and other crap), stay hydrated (not too hydrated, because that's annoying) and stay alert. When you stop every 5-6 hours for gas, walk around a bit, grab a light meal, and keep going.

You got dis.

Thanks guys, just started the trip and downloaded some npr podcast, comedy podcasts, and a book on tape. Also i told my friend to make a sick playlist. Wish me luck

talk radio, music, COLD COLD AIR to keep you awake if needed (although I think pulling off for a quick 20 min nap works well too)

Cruise control is cool for highways(I've got a standard) but if you're getting tired take it off.

Worst thing that can happen is to fall asleep rolling on cruise control.

But really it's taking longer than usual because it started snowing (fuck you Mother Nature) over some passes after we got off of I 15 onto I 70. Looks pretty flat for about 100 miles though and we went down in elevation so it's looking good for a bit

I only do day trips to tahoe for my skiing, and tahoe is 3.5-4 hours each way. I just load up on all the thisngs tha make me comfy- quad shot mochas, banana chips, fruits, drinks, bacon etc, Smoke a bowl before setting out and then throw on a good book on tape. when i get bored of that i switch to music. by the time i switch to music im usually in the mountains where it is impossible to fall asleep at the wheel because of the windy nature of the highwaysl

i normal eat my friend first cause he is usually in charge of the food and he only packs bugles, but i hate bugles so i put some of the sharp chips on the tips of my fingers and I stab him in the neck with the bugle claws then I feast on his warm flesh.

Yeah 10 hours is a looooong time to be driving. I drive for 16 hours straight from New Mexico to WA stopping only for gas. That sucked.
