What flex should I make my boots?

I have a pair of the Tecnica Diablo Spark boots and they are in the lock position- flex 130...I think I'm going to adjust them down to 60...if i'm doing mostly park stuff, do i want as much flex as possible?....i have been getting major shin splints and i think the stiffness may be causing this.

any thought?

I'm not sure if I understand: the flex in your boots is adjustable from a flex index of 60 to 130? 60 is s super-soft flex for just-beginning skiers or junior skiers. Whereas 130 is a very stiff, expert-only flex for bigger, stronger skiers. There's a huge difference between the two.

Ya I would say I'm a pretty good skiier. I know the the SPK's and the foils have flex of like 25, so I just figured that for freestyle/park skiing, more flex is better....My boots right now are dead locked...no movement forward and back at all...locked in place

the spark has a tecnica flex rating of 70, the softest in the diablo line. the race pro is 130.

i would not soften those boots unless you weigh 80 pounds.

the spk has a flex of 85 on the salomon scale. these scales are not related to each other in any way. the numbers are not relative

Ok so when you stand uprigth and you lean forward a bit...do your boots flex at all???....mine do not move at all...locked in one position...are you saying that this is OK and I should keep it?

ha maybe i don't know what i'm talking about...i'l got try them on again. i thought maybe the lock position was like 120 and the flex was 70....prob not

lock just means that little bolt you are turning attaches the upper cuff and the lower cuff, giving you less leverage. it will still flex
