been playing around using windows movie maker but want to get a better program to start making some nice edits, what do you use?

all depends on what kind of computer you have, and how much money (if any) you're willing to spend.
For macs: Final Cut Express & Final Cut Pro are the most popular
For pcs: vegas is really popular, but these are all pretty expensive.
