What does the P in pwned stand for?

started as "owned", someone at some point hit p=o as a typo, it became e-cool, and is now glabally accepted as "owned"

no. pwn3d is leetspeak. Basically just nerds making fun of other nerds that got overly excited typing something and then typed it wrong. Its just like when people put a bunch of exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!11ONE!!!
 
no way dude, it def came from CS (counterstrike for you n00bs out there) because since theres no voice chat, you have to type really fast to say something during the game and not get shot. and people would accidently press P instead of O
 
this guy has it right. back in the day of cs 1.2 or 1.3 i remember people starting to say owned then it evolved to pwned. the pwn3d

I'm positive because I've played that game and it actually said "pwned" instead of "owned".
 
i totally knew it came from warcraft couse my friends who play it started saying it and they said it came from thecame due to a typo
 
According to wikipedia the term was coined in the 80s. I always thought it was popularized in Counter Strike though, along with the rest of 1337speak.
 
ya it came from World of Warcraft when some guy typed it wrong and now he has people talking about it on ski sites
