What does the piece on the back of the liner do? Its a small foam piece that is in between the liner and shell.
Its removable, held on only by velcro.

Thanks

Boot names help...
I'm guessing its to either adjust forward lean or to fill space between the liner and the shell - it's removable because if you have a leg that has more volume then you can take it out so you wont feel discomfort.

My old Salomon's have the same thing. Its just there to make the boot fit more people but mine were uncomfortable to me and made my boot fit smaller along with putting more pressure on my ankles. I took them out and my boots feel a bit bigger and more comfy.

my spks have that. its to adjust to the hieght of your calf to spread out pressure out you calf when leaning back. its about comfort put it all the way up and see how it feels... then down and then mix it in somewhere in the middle where you feel it gives you the sopurt you want.i rock mine all the way up i have long legs and high calve muscles so it gives suport where i want it
