What does tail taper do on powder skis?

Tail taper helps a ski release from a turn. It allows a ski to not get locked into a carve, so that it is easier to skid the skis, by throwing them sideways. By doing all of this, tail taper allows a skier to vary turn shapes in powder more easily, instead of locking into a carve. It also allows a skier to scrub speed by throwing a sideways skid.

also helps to make the tail dive down into the snow therefore lifting the nose allowing more float. kind of same idea as swallow tailed shit.

This too. Ski some 4frnt EHP 186's and you will really feel it. With the tail taper and rocker it seems as if it would be impossible to make the tip dive, so you can ski them with a very forward(pressuring the tongues of the boots) stance.

finally a correct answer. its similar to back mounting powder skis it puts your tail in the snow and your tip out of it.
