What does NS think of skiercross?

I surprised people enjoy it. I find it kinda lame. It not the costume, its the shitty skiing. Most have no technique, 4 to 6 guys that fight it out for gold. Then when the rider hits a jumps, hands flail, legs flutter, and they land on the back seat. Seriously, its like gate gapers that ride in your park and cant land a single jump, but still goes fast.

Bahahaha are you serious? Most of the guys racing are ex-national alpine ski team, or past olympic competitors in alpine. Rahlves, a shitty skier? Sorry, I had a good laugh over your post. Pretty sure most SX racers are landing pretty centered, probably moreso than most park riders. I still have a problem landing too far forward off airs/cliffs from racing SX so you must have some pretty shitty racers at your hill or you're a complete moron. Granted, the first time trying out a course or while training you're going to be a tad squirrely over certain hits, but I've seen the same from guys in the park their first lap or first hit on a booter.

I'm also willing to bet that you're a "shittier" skier than most pro SX athletes. Also, most of the "gate gapers" around here end up being some of the best big mountain skiers on the resort. You must be an east coaster.

Most of the "gate chasers" at our hill can ski alright out of the gates too. Hopefully these photos work. half are from fb. I'm really getting sick of this "racers suck, get out of the park", "racers flail" etc argument. There's no denying that a racing background will make you a strong skier technically. What you do with that skill set is up to you.

Damn.. if only someone could teach those "shitty" skiers a thing or two, and keep them out of your way with all their "flailing" and "backseat landing".

Yeah, forgot about that. Out west we actually have mountains so its kinda hard to spend all day in the park when there's pow and lines to shred. A good number of the guys/girls I grew up racing with here in Whistler either ended up racing SX, or pursuing big mountain. Most of them are pretty decent in the park too.. it's just irritating to see morons claiming SX racers are "shitty skiers". They're probably some of the best well-rounded skiers out there, and versatile on whatever they're skiing, gates, park, big mtn, sx etc..

i feel the same way about park rats. they're like your 10 year old cousin that likes to wear his dad's clothes. nothing fits and looks rediculous but hey, he's family.

On a more serious note:

We shut the park rats up pretty quick when we're training SX at night. We mark out our track with ice balls throughout the park and when the line is clear, anywhere from 5-10 racers pin it in a train.

Raced when i was younger and yeah, racing is lame, but racing skiercross is fun as shit. Imagine if they had courses set up on the mountains that you and your friends could race on...would be way more fun than racing your buddy down some lame ass gates.

That's sick! who'd you make it with??

Trent made one too, so we're going to session it when I get back.

There was the first World Cup of the season on the weekend. Fast course with some interesting features, a few big jumps and doubles. Some unexpected podiums, will be an interesting season of ski cross.

what does it have to do with "our sport"? I mean skiing as a whole sure, but freeskiing, or newschooling as the kids are referring to these days; no not really. its a five man/woman slalom with poorly designed ramps, what part of that is "our sport"?

its cool though, at least 15% more exciting than most other racing I suppose in some cases. They should just make GS a five man race. LAST CHANCE QUALIFIER!

i know everybody likes to go fast and to think just how fast those downhill guys are going i have major respect for them and like like to straight line some groomers once and a while. but skicross is like the perfect mix of jumps and speed i love doing the skicross track at my hill and i love watching it.

i fucking love skier x.

im a racer and love goin in the park so it like the perfect mix.

ive only ridden strattons basic course with some other races and its super fun. i looked to see if there were any races here on the east but coudnt really find anything.

i would love to get into the sport

My mountain has high schools compete against each other and it was so fun racing my friends today. So much contact and shit can change in seconds. It's a real blast though

i compete in skier cross in usasa amd it is super fun the lical courses arent that great but i went to the one at stratton and that corse is so dope you get major air. i was out ahead in one heat and i threw a 360.
