What does it take?

I want to open this up to everyone. What can we do as a manufacturer to make the best park/pipe ski, big mountain twin and pow ski. I ride all over the mountain so I have a general understanding but if you were making the perfect ski what would it be. Lengths, flex pattern, edge construction, top and bottom sheets you name it. As I am going through posts I hear the good bad and the ugly but I want to know what specifically is good bad and ugly. food for thought. Peace.

Bucks are not the issue....skis are. Hart is a rider focused company so I want to hear what you have to say.

dunno if it helps you but my ideal allround ski would be about 85-90 in the middle, radius would be around 21-22 at 175 length. the ski would be very light and with harder flex in the back so you can pop a lot.

how much are you thinking of charging that will tell me if you are a 'rider based' company, a kick ass ski at a cheap price, thats what i want, thats pretty much whatevery one wants.

DURABILITY

there are plenty of skis that perform well now, durability is sometimes an issue tho.

for instance, troublemakers...they ski soo well, but their edges etc suck.

other than that, i'd want a 80ish mm waist, REALLY good pop, wood core, and light, if possible

oh yeah? well me and my friends have been bathing off the southern coast of st. bards, chilling with spider monkeys. tripping on acid gave us a whole new perspective on shit.

put together a ski stiff in the tail, for pop, mid fat like 74-85 under foot, and some shape so it can perform outside the park/pipe. Also put on a solid top sheet that won't get all fucked up the first day on the hill, and good graphics can only help too.....

Step it up

I agree, skis need to be way more durable. Other than that a waist of around 90mm would be good, in 175cm long

yeah fix the topsheet

ummm i think you need to do your own research and design. this is just like the time when My Chemical Romance had a creat a cover contest. My friend won and they gave him no credit but they gave him a few cds and like 4 tickets to their show its fucking bullshit it would have cost them a shit load to have a artist design something. If its rider based then you should know what kinda ski you would like. and think about it what skis are hyped up on this site the most? now guess what we like. good luck

Oh and insanely fat skis like the prophets would be cool, but is not really feasible from a profit standpoint

A few nice points. We are putting out a full line for the 05/06 season. It is an aggressive start but we felt that this is the level of performance most old loyal Hart customers would want.

As far as top sheet design everything has been done by independant artists and we are offering them royalties for each pair sold so it not just a new set of skis and some stickers and we send you on your way. We are always open to change the line or customize so top sheets are pretty much endless

joemuench, this thread is what we would call research, Hart is RESEARCHING what skiers want so that they can improve their skis. Then they will take their ideas of what skiers want and DEVELOP it into a ski that people will like. It's called RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

It would be ill if you guys put together a dedicated park/ urban ski, sorta like the T hall. It would have unbelievable flexy tips and tails, like as in flexyness never seen before, and rounded edges under the boot. But enough core strenth to stand up to large tables and disasters. And strong edges that you dont have to worry about ripping out.

What about materials? We are experimenting with carbon fiber which is compresion molded. Super light and strong with a long life.

There needs to be some other way of mounting bindings, somewhat similar to what line did, but it seems to me that line's are now limited(correct me if I'm wrong) on binding placement on the ski. So what I'm saying is I like the idea of inserts but it needs to be improved. It gets expensive to have bindings for every pair of skis

Thanks to everyone for the help and if you have more suggestions keep on posting or feel free to email me.

Medium soft flex, with alot of torsion stiffness.
